Actor Keith David To Produce New Film With Batman Director Chris Nolan!

Posted Jul 28, 2011

Without a shadow of a doubt one of the hardest working men in Hollywood today has to be actor Keith David. With over 193 projects under his belt from film, to television, to voice-over work on some of the most popular video games in the industry, this man has truly left his mark.

Not only is he an accomplished actor, but David is a serious jazz lover and singer with an album he released two years ago.

If you are still trying to figure out where you may recognize his face, we are sure that you may know him from his early days in films like The Thing, and Platoon, to his many films like Dead Presidents, They Live, Marked For Death, The Puppet Masters, Armageddon, There’s Something About Mary, and the Chronicles of Riddick franchise just to name a few.

With that being said, it now looks like David is now about to go behind the scenes and start working on producing his own titles, and first up is a supernatural thriller with The Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan. The project, yet to be titled, is said to be from Nolan’s former assistant and right-hand guy Jordan Goldberg who is the prime mover on the project. We also hear Nolan and partner Emma Thomas will take executive producer credit, insiders say.

But always working, we also discovered that David is jumping in the new film titled The Last Fall with director Matthew Cherry and a cast that includes Lance Gross, Nicole Beharie, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Harry Lennix, and Darrin Henson. This film is a sports drama that follows a former NFL player through an unexpected and early retirement.

David also has a comedy he’s starring in titled Christmas in Compton, starring Omar Gooding, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Eric Roberts and Miguel Nunez.

The story is as follows:

Big Earl (David), the owner of a Christmas tree lot in Compton, and a man with a big heart and a big vision, demands success from everyone around him. All kinds of trouble erupts the week before Christmas when his son, Derrick (Gooding), part-time music producer and part-time Christmas tree lot employee, crosses the line to prove to Big Earl that he is a success.

The colorful characters who populate the tree lot cause additional complications for Derrick as he tries to solve his problems secretly.  Things spiral out of Derrick’s control, jeopardizing the survival of the lot, and more importantly, the relationship with his father.

Shooting wrapped in Los Angeles in May, and the filmmakers are currently in talks for distribution.
