The first teaser trailer for Shrek 5 has arrived, and for the first time in 16 years, fans are finally getting real clues about the plot of the long‑awaited sequel.
The new footage confirms that Shrek, Donkey, and the entire ogre family are heading out on a chaotic “whirlwind big‑city adventure” — and, unsurprisingly, things go hilariously wrong.
DreamWorks Animation has released the first official teaser for Shrek 5, giving audiences their clearest look yet at the story behind the franchise’s return, according to the trailer, Shrek, Donkey, and Shrek’s children — two sons and a daughter — set off on a new journey that takes them far from the swamp and into a bustling big city. Donkey describes the adventure as another “whirlwind big‑city” escapade, setting the tone for a comedy‑packed quest.
A Family Adventure… Gone Wrong
While plot details remain tightly guarded, the teaser shows the family trip quickly derailing. Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, and the boys Fergus and Farkle are seen locked in a jail cell, with Donkey loudly braying to pass the time — much to Shrek’s frustration. Notably missing from the cell is Felicia, Shrek and Fiona’s daughter, voiced by Zendaya, raising early questions about her role in the story.
New Characters, New City, Same Shrek Humor
The teaser also confirms that the family’s destination is the magical metropolis of Further Further Away, where they encounter new characters and plenty of trouble. Fans also get a glimpse of the Gingerbread Man, who proudly shows off his “caked up” gumdrop‑enhanced backside — a moment already going viral.
There’s even a playful jab at Disney’s Frozen, featuring a washed‑up snowman character reminiscent of Olaf.
