Amazon MGM Studios has officially picked up Shots! Shots! Shots!, a new Jason Momoa–led action‑comedy that was previously in development at Universal, marking another major collaboration between the studio and the blockbuster star.
Amazon MGM Studios is moving full speed ahead with Shots! Shots! Shots!, an action‑comedy project that reunites the company with Jason Momoa following the massive streaming success of The Wrecking Crew. The film was originally set up at Universal in 2022, but shifting budget priorities pushed the project into turnaround — giving Amazon MGM the opportunity to snap it up.
Momoa is currently in talks to star and will also join the producing team alongside Jeff Fierson and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback, the production banner behind the billion‑dollar Lilo & Stitch remake.
While Amazon MGM is keeping story details under wraps, the film is described as a family‑centric action adventure with tonal similarities to:
- True Lies
- Taken
- The Lost City
This blend suggests a high‑energy mix of comedy, stunts, and globe‑trotting thrills — a formula that has worked well for Momoa’s recent projects.
The script comes from writers Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows, who penned the original spec and will serve as executive producers alongside Rideback’s Ryan Halprin.
The studio’s enthusiasm is no surprise: Momoa’s previous Amazon MGM action‑comedy, The Wrecking Crew, became a major streaming hit earlier this year, proving his strong draw for Prime Video audiences.
With Momoa’s packed schedule — including roles in Supergirl, Street Fighter, and Dune: Part Three — Shots! Shots! Shots! is not expected to be his next film, but it remains a high‑priority project in active development.
Momoa recently exited Sony’s Helldivers but continues to headline major franchises. He will next appear as Lobo in DC Studios’ Supergirl, opening June 26th, before returning to theaters later this year in Street Fighter and Dune: Part Three.
