Kevin Hart Lands In New Buddy Cop Film With Seth Rogen!

Posted Mar 19, 2012

Last week comedian Kevin Hart tweeted about his very important meeting with Seth Rogen, and several days later we discovered what the meeting was about; he has signed on to star in a new action buddy cop film yet to be titled from Paramount Studios.

As you may recall Paramount is the same studio who produced all of those Beverly Hills Cop films (and tons of buddy cop films)!

According to Variety;

Paramount has won a bidding war for an original action-comedy pitch from Rodney Rothman that has Seth Rogen and Kevin Hart attached to star.

Duo will play the first (fictional) interracial police partners, who infiltrate the post-World War II jazz scene to investigate a drug ring.

Rothman will write and produce the untitled pic via his newly minted Viking Funeral banner, while Rogen and Evan Goldberg will produce through their Point Grey Pictures shingle. Hart will exec produce via his HartBeat Prods. banner.

Rothman has had the idea for many years, and approached Rogen to star, having first worked together a decade ago on the short-lived Fox series “Undeclared.” Rothman just produced Universal’s upcoming comedy “The Five-Year Engagement,” which is his fourth film for Judd Apatow’s production company Apatow Prods. following “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” “Year One” and “Get Him to the Greek.”

Rothman recently sold the horror-comedy script “The Something” to Universal, and he’s now attached to make his directorial debut on that project.

Rogen, who recently starred in and produced “50/50” for Summit, will soon be seen opposite Barbra Streisand in Anne Fletcher’s comedy “The Guilt Trip,” which Par will release Nov. 2.

Hart next stars in Screen Gems comedy “Think Like a Man” and he also co-stars in “Five-Year Engagement.”

UTA reps Rothman, Hart and Rogen, who is also repped by Principal Entertainment and attorney Fred Toczek. 3 Arts Entertainment manages Rothman and Hart, who’s also repped by Schreck Rose Dapello Adams & Hurwitz.
