Created by, written by and starring Golden Globe nominee (Best Actress in a Comedy Series) Issa Rae, “Insecure” returns for a second season exactly one month from today, on July 23 (earlier than season 1 premiered last year, October 9, 2016).
In addition, in celebration of the series’ summer run, HBO has partnered with TRAP Karaoke, a user-generated entertainment company putting guests at the center of the show. Fans in Cincinnati, Charlotte and Houston will join cast members from both “Insecure” and “Ballers” (the Dwayne Johnson dramedy) for an advance double feature screening of the shows’ season premieres and get on stage with TRAP Karaoke’s host Low Key and DJ Austin Millz. The HBO x TRAP Karaoke tour will stop in Cincinnati on July 6th (Bogart’s), Charlotte on July 13th (The Fillmore), and wrap up in Houston on July 19th (White Oak Music Hall). FOX Sets Official Release Date For ‘Lethal Weapon’ Season 2
Fox might have got a valid reputation of being hot-tempered about canceling abundant shows they used to acclaim. Nonetheless, there is one show that won’t be on their blacklist, and that is Lethal Weapon. After the announcement of this show which is the adaptation of the epic Mel Gibson and Danny Glover cop action franchise, the reaction of the audience wasn’t at the level which was expected. However, it has still succeeded in making an impression on the viewers with good chemistry among the cast. So, although the finale has already been broadcast, you can relax, since Lethal Weapon Season 2 is happening, and it will contain 22 episodes.
The show with Clayne Crawford starring as crazed Martin Riggs and Damon Wayans as the careful Roger Murtaugh received good reviews from the critics and excellent ratings as the network’s best-rated premiere in the last two years with 8 million viewers.
Just a month after its debut in September 2016, Lethal Weapon extended its Season 1 from the original 11 episodes to a total of 18. After New Year, the number of viewers was a solid 6 million, so the early renewal announcement regarding Season 2 didn’t come as a big surprise, together with the DC comic adaptation of a Biblically themed supernatural crime show Lucifer..

Lethal Weapon was adapted by Matthew Miller, famous for his Forever, Chuck and The 100. The show pays tribute to the classic action show from the 80s and 90s, while at the same time it has its own identity. The friendship between Crawford’s Riggs and Wayans’s Murtaugh sticks in the center of the show, but it also works well against the supporting cast including Murtaugh’s family. More precisely, this includes his wife Trish (Keesha Sharp), nerdy forensics guy Scorcese (Johnathan Fernandez), police psychiatrist Maureen Cahill (Jordana Brewster) and the police captain Brooks Avery (Kevin Rahm). Also, the February 15 episode presented the TV version of the sleazy but kind-hearted Leo Getz played by Thomas Lennon.
As for the Lethal Weapon Season 2 release date, there has been an official premiere date and also a new timeslot. The remake of the buddy cop comedy/action will premiere on Tuesday, September 26 at 8 p.m. ET after the last season episodes were broadcast on Wednesdays. In the fall, Tuesday should be a good night for comedy on Fox, with Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Mick following Lethal Weapon. Those are two cop comedies in just one night! Perhaps Kaitlin Olson will be in the police force in The Mick Season 2, just to make Cop Night official.

‘The Carmichael Show’ Ending At NBC As Jerrod Carmichael Exits
COURTESY OF NBC
“The Carmichael Show” is ending after three seasons, as its star and creator Jerrod Carmichael has opted to exit to series, Variety has learned.
“For three seasons (okay 2.5), I got to make a show that I love with my friends,” Carmichael said in a statement released to Variety. “It’s something I’ve wanted to do since I was 13. Now, I’m excited to go make other things that I love. Thank you to every person who worked on or watched the Carmichael show.”
“We are enormously proud of The Carmichael Show and Jerrod’s talent and vision to do a classic family sitcom that also taps into issues and relevant stories from the real world. We thank and salute the cast, crew, and producers — and especially Jerrod — for three critically-acclaimed seasons,” said NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt and NBC Entertainment president, Jennifer Salke.
20th Century Fox Television presidents, Jonnie Davis and Howard Kurtzman, said: “’The Carmichael Show’ was such a wonderful show that we choose to focus today not on its loss but on the three incredible seasons we had the pleasure to produce. We are thankful to the brilliant Jerrod Carmichael and his talented cast, and to showrunner Danielle Sanchez-Witzel, our fantastic writers and devoted production team. It’s a rarity that a comedy series tackles the social and political issues of the day in such a clever and hilariously funny way. This show was special, and we will miss it.”

Showtime Partners With Lebron James For Untitled 3-Part Doc On Modern History, Evolution Of NBA, Set For 2018
LOS ANGELES– June 28, 2017 – Today, Showtime Networks Inc. announced the start of an expansive project that will examine the modern history of the National Basketball Association and the league’s impact on global popular culture. Executive producers LeBron James and Maverick Carter of SpringHill Entertainment and award-winning filmmaker Gotham Chopra have begun production on a three-part documentary film series slated to premiere on SHOWTIME in 2018.
“We are thrilled to be collaborating with LeBron, Maverick and Gotham on what will be a comprehensive look at one of the most influential sports institutions in the world,” said Stephen Espinoza, Executive Vice President and General Manager, SHOWTIME Sports. “This series of films will join a growing list of must-see documentaries on SHOWTIME, films that reveal the myriad ways sports and culture intersect and influence each other.”
“We developed the idea for these films because of the incredible, generational impact some of the NBA’s most successful players have had on every aspect of American culture,” said Maverick Carter, CEO of SpringHill Entertainment. “Gotham is the perfect filmmaker to bring these stories to life, and SHOWTIME is the right platform to showcase how they were able to transcend the game and shape the culture in an unprecedented way.”
“Despite the fact that I am a Boston Celtics fan to the bone, collaborating with Maverick and LeBron was an inspired opportunity,” added Chopra (“Kobe Bryant’s Muse”, “Religion of Sports”). “Sports in general and specifically the NBA provide a great backdrop for storytelling. But these films offer us a chance to go beyond that; to weave a broader cultural narrative in our current social climate. With the support of David Nevins and the progressive SHOWTIME team, we have a chance to say something truly resonant. That’s the goal.”
The documentary film series is a presentation of SHOWTIME Documentary Films and SHOWTIME Sports. The film project is directed by Gotham Chopra with executive producers LeBron James, Maverick Carter, Rich Paul, Gotham Chopra, Martin Desmond Roe, Chris Uetwiller and Datari Turner.
