Ego Nwodim Joins Star-Studded Cast of Netflix’s ‘Little Brother’ Comedy Feature

Netflix’s upcoming comedy Little Brother just got a major dose of comedic brilliance with the addition of Ego Nwodim, the Saturday Night Live standout known for her sharp wit and scene-stealing performances.

Directed by Matt Spicer (Ingrid Goes West) and penned by screenwriting duo Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel, Little Brother follows a high-powered real estate agent whose meticulously curated life is thrown into chaos when his eccentric younger brother unexpectedly reappears. The film promises a heartfelt and hilarious exploration of sibling dynamics, control, and the unpredictable nature of family.

Nwodim joins a powerhouse ensemble that includes John Cena, Eric André, Chris Meloni, Sherry Cola, Caleb Hearon, and Ben Ahlers. Her role in the film hasn’t been publicly detailed yet, but given her track record—from Poker Face to Mr. Throwback and her breakout SNL character “Lisa from Temecula”—audiences can expect a performance packed with charisma and comedic timing.

Behind the scenes, the film is produced by David Bernad (The White Lotus) and Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) under the Middle Child Pictures banner. With Spicer’s knack for dark comedy and emotionally resonant storytelling, Little Brother is shaping up to be one of Netflix’s most anticipated releases.

While the official release date is still under wraps, filming is reportedly underway in Montclair, New Jersey. If the cast chemistry and creative team are any indication, Little Brother could be the next big comedy hit to land on the streamer.

ABC’s ‘Abbott Elementary’ Scores Another Round of Emmy Nominations In 2025

ABC’s hit mockumentary-style sitcom Abbott Elementary continues its winning streak, earning multiple nominations at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, solidifying its place as one of television’s most beloved comedies.

Created by and starring Quinta Brunson, the series received its fourth consecutive nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series, joining a competitive lineup that includes Hacks, The Bear, and Only Murders in the Building. Though the show has yet to clinch a win in this category, its consistent presence signals enduring acclaim from both audiences and critics.

Brunson herself is once again nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, following her historic win in 2023, when she became the first Black woman to take home the award since 1981. Her portrayal of Janine Teagues—a passionate and slightly awkward second-grade teacher navigating the challenges of a Philadelphia public school—has become iconic.

Supporting cast members Sheryl Lee Ralph and Janelle James also earned nods for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Ralph, who won in 2022, and James, now on her fourth nomination, continue to be recognized for their standout performances as Barbara Howard and Ava Coleman, respectively.

The show’s writing team, led by Brunson, is also nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, marking another milestone for Black women in television. Brunson now ties the record for most writing Emmy nominations by a Black woman for a single series.

With the ceremony set for September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, Abbott Elementary fans are hoping this year brings the show its first win for Outstanding Comedy Series. Whether or not it takes home the top prize, the nominations alone affirm the show’s cultural impact and its role in reshaping the landscape of network comedy.

Ray Dejon, Comedian And Comedy Producer, Passes Away

A New York comedian and comedy producer known as Ray Dejon has died just days short of appearing at a roast to mark his 64th birthday.

DeJon—who opened Brooklyn’s first Black-owned comedy venue, the Laffaholics Comedy Club, back in the early 2000s—passed away Monday. In the last video uploaded to his Instagram account, he encouraged fans to come on down to his scheduled Wednesday appearance at the roast, which was due to be held at the city’s 275ParkBK venue.

The comments section has since been flooded with well-wishers for DeJon’s family. “Part of my upbringing. Went to a lot of his shows. Great guy,” one person wrote. “So sad to hear this. Rest easy champ,” another added.

Though DeJon’s cause of death has not been made public, the comedian had been candid in the past about his experience as a stroke survivor, which had at one time left him paralyzed on the left side of his body. He also spoke about his battle to overcome substance addiction, working on the issue with at-risk young adults in his spare time.

He will be missed. Condolences to his family and friends.

  • President and Mrs. Obama wanted to honor America’s 250th anniversary and celebrate the unique history of our nation on this special occasion.
    …But then Larry David called.

  • Former President Obama, 44th president of the United States and executive producer, quote: “I’ve sat across the table from some of the world’s most difficult leaders and wrestled with some of our most intractable problems. Nothing has prepared me for working with Larry David.”

  • Larry David, executive producer, writer and star, quote: “Once ‘Curb’ ended, I celebrated with a three-day foam party. After a violent allergic reaction to the suds, I yearned to return to my simple life as a beekeeper, harvesting organic honey from the wildflowers in my meadow. Alas, one day my bees mysteriously vanished. And so, it is with a heavy heart that I return to television, hoping to ease the loss of my beloved hive.”

  • Jeff Schaffer, executive producer, writer, and director, quote: “The characters Larry is playing didn’t change history. In fact, they were largely ignored by history. And that’s a good thing.”

  • Credits: The series is executive produced by Larry David and Jeff Schaffer. For Higher Ground; executive producers are Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Vinnie Malhotra and Ethan Lewis.

Craig Robinson Is Not Quitting Comedy- Announcement Was For New AT&T Business Ad

Craig Robinson is returning to The Office — sort of.

The actor — who played warehouse foreman-turned-assistant regional manager Darryl Philbin on the comedy series — has reunited with some of his former castmates for a new ad for AT&T Business. He’s joined by Ellie Kemper, Angela Kinsey, Creed Bratton, and Oscar Nuñez in the spot, dubbed “Wake Up With CrAIg?,” which is part of a campaign to show how the company keeps small businesses connected.

In the commercial (watch it below), Robinson leads the group as they gather to launch a new small business revolving around an AI product dubbed CrAIg, which they humorously try to pronounce incorporating “AI.” It’s “the world’s first AI alarm clock, featuring yours truly,” Robinson notes, that’s designed to motivate and spread good vibes for small business owners.

Over the next year, the campaign will follow Robinson as he works to grow his business. According to AT&T Business: “This campaign isn’t just a one-off moment — it’s a multiyear movement designed to shine a light and celebrate the real journey of small business owners. We wanted to break the mold by bringing beloved cultural icons to the forefront. By casting them as themselves — playing versions of their own entrepreneurial journeys — we create authentic, relatable stories that resonate deeply with small business owners.”

Robinson generated headlines last week when he teased the campaign, saying he was “officially quitting comedy to focus on my true calling. Stay tuned. I’m working on something huge.” He followed that up with another post: “Turns out having a dream and building a business with your friends are two VERY different things. I can’t go into detail just yet, but for real though, any help would be huge.” However, that was all part of the new campaign.

This actually marks his second campaign for AT&T Business: Last year, he reunited with former The Office co-stars Jenna Fischer and Rainn Wilson for another campaign, dubbed Sleep With Rain (selling a “talking pillow” with Wilson’s voice. That product is jokingly referenced in the new spot, which debuted Thursday). When Robinson was asked to return for another spot, he said it was “no-brainer,” emphasizing the importance of supporting small-business owners.

“I know some people with small businesses,” Robinson told The Hollywood Reporter. “I have a cousin in Chicago with a small business, and [I am aware of] the unexpected things that happen with a small business — like, take a pandemic or what have you — a lot of times there’s support needed, and it’s just a beautiful thing to know that you can lean on somebody.”

He said that it was easy for him and his former co-stars to pick up right where they left as if no time had passed. The only difference is that while during filming The Office, some of them were just getting married and having kids, and now those kids are grown adults. “The first day, it’s all so exciting, and by the second day, it felt like we’d been together the whole time,” he said.

Robinson said he gets asked frequently about an Office reunion — the show aired for nine seasons, from 2005-13, on NBC and is enjoying a successful afterlife in syndication and streaming — and he hopes this new ad satiates their wishes to some degree.

The actor says he still gets fans who approach him quotes some of his most memorable lines. The two most common are “You need to access your un-crazy side,” which his character told Kelly Kapoor (played by Mindy Kaling), and “pippity poppity gimme da zoppidy,” which Darryl told Michael Scott (Steve Carell) was a “Black man phrase” that Michael could say to make him sound cool.

Robinson says he doesn’t take it for granted that he’s part of something that’s still so universally beloved. He notes that he’s seen people have Office-themed weddings, wear Office-themed Halloween costumes and take part in Office-themed trivia games.

Andrew “King Bach” Bachelor Lands In ‘Hate the Player: The Ben Johnson Story’ Miniseries

Social media star-turned-actor Andrew Bachelor has joined Shamier Anderson in the upcoming Paramount+ and GameTV satirical mini-series Hate the Player: The Ben Johnson Story.

Bachelor, also known as King Bach, will play U.S. sprinter Carl Lewis, a fierce rival to Canadian Ben Johnson (Anderson), who in 1988 cheated his way to a gold medal in the 100-meter final at the Seoul Olympics.

Bachelor starred in Netflix comedy Coffee and Kareem, alongside Taraji P. Henson, Ed Helms, and Betty Gilpin, the Netflix horror The Babysitter: Killer Queen with Jenna Ortega, and the romantic comedy Holidate with Emma Roberts and Kristin Chenoweth.

Bachelor will bring his real-life sprinting background while attending Florida State University, and that of his athlete father in Jamaica, to the role. “Carl Lewis was a hero of mine — not just because of his dominance, but because he excelled in multiple events, just like I did. The rivalry between Ben Johnson and Carl Lewis is one of the most iconic in sports history. To be a part of bringing that story to life is an incredible honor and a full-circle moment for me,” he said in a statement.

The six-parter, set to air on Paramount+ and GameTV in Canada in 2026, has also added Kids in the Hall alum Mark McKinney, Karen Robinson, Ennis Esmer, Kristian Bruun, Malaika Hennie Hamadi, Ryan Belleville, Darryl Hinds, Lisa Horner, Emma Hunter, Suresh John, Jonathan Langdon, Gita Miller, Andrew Phung and Dewshane Williams to the ensemble cast.

The Canadian miniseries is produced by New Metric Media and Bay Mills Studios. A synopsis from the producers reads: “Hate the Player: The Ben Johnson Story is Canadian sprinter Johnson’s definitely-not-biased account of the doping controversy that rocked the 1988 Olympics when he tested positive for banned steroid use, going from hero to zero in 9.79 seconds in what some called “The Dirtiest Race in History”. The series takes a revealing and satirical look at the events surrounding the legendary race and the scandal behind the scandal.”

The series, which has the participation of Ben Johnson, is created by Anthony Q. Farrell (The Office, Shelved, Run the Burbs), who serves as showrunner. He also shares executive producer credits with Mark Montefiore, R.T. Thorne, Anderson, and Stephan James.

Lana Maclin will produce and Max Wolfond is a supervising producer. Cory Bowles and Thorne will direct.
