Posted Feb 4, 2015

Tucker

This evening we were able to cover the The Dick Gregory Foundation event produced by the same organization as they presented an All-Star Tribute and Toast to Dick Gregory for his Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Induction.

The event took place in Hollywood at the infamous Ricardo Montalbán Theatre, with a red carpet and lots of surprise guests on hand to pay tribute to this historic comedian and activist. But what was a surprise to many was the event was hosted by actor and comedian Chris Tucker (of the Rush Hour film franchise)!

Besides Tucker, other celebrities in attendance; Rob Schneider, John Legend, Phylis Yvonne Stickney, Bill Duke, Robert Townsend, Lisa Leslie, Roland Martin, Bill Bellamy, Ron Gee, Kym Whitley, Lamman Rucker, Rolanda Watts, John Salley, Freda Payne, Tommy Davidson, Tony Rock, Chef Huda, Clifton Powell, MIchael Colyar, Omar Dorsey (Selma), Terry Hodges, Braylon Edwards (NFL, Cleveland Browns), Hope Flood, Keith Stanfield (of Selma fame), celebrity makeup artist Derrick Rutledge and many more.

On stage, comedians such as Tony Rock, Flex Alexander, Luenell, Michael Colyar, Terry Hodges, Rob Schneider, John Salley, Phylis Yvonne Stickney, Ron Gee, Flex Alexander, Tommy Davidson, all performed. Tucker kept the night moving as fast as he could while the event quickly became a night of honor for Gregory. The night was closed by Gregory giving us his insight in the years of him as a masterful comic and activist while still broadening the minds of the people in attendance of the world we live in.

Over all, a wonderful night in comedy and entertainment.
