Posted May 18, 2015

Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj lead the pack of BET Awards nominees with six nominations each.

Brown is up twice in the video of the year category with his hits “Loyal” and “New Flame,” BET announced on Monday. He’ll go head-to-head against Minaj, who’s nominated for the same top prize with “Anaconda.”

Brown is also in the running for best male R&B/pop artist, best collaboration (with two nods) and the Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice Award. Minaj is also up for best collaboration and the Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice Award (with two nominations), as well as best female hip hop artist and best group, as a member of Young Money.

Beyonce and Lil Wayne follow with four nominations each. Beyonce’s “7/11″ will also compete in the crowded video of the year race, along with Big Sean’s “IDFWU” and Common and John Legend’s Oscar-winning “Glory,” from the film “Selma.”

Taraji P. Henson, Kerry Washington, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Kevin Hart and Terrence Howard are some of the thesps up for acting awards. Meanwhile, “Annie,” “Beyond the Lights,” “Selma,” “Think Like a Man Too” and “Top Five” will vie for best movie.

“This year’s nominees showcase a diverse group of talent that includes longstanding entertainers, breakout performers, and outstanding athletes,” BET’s president of programming Stephen Hill said in a statement.
