Watch: Official Red Band Trailer For Tyler Perry’s New Film ‘Joe’s College Road Trip’ Released

Posted Feb 11, 2026

The red band trailer for “Joe’s College Road Trip” has officially dropped, and Tyler Perry is giving fan-favorite character Joe Simmons his long-overdue moment in the spotlight.

After more than two decades as a scene-stealing supporting player in the Madea franchise, Joe is finally stepping into a leading role in this upcoming Netflix comedy. Perry wrote and directed the film, which follows Joe on a cross-country college tour with his grandson B.J. The trip starts as a straightforward lesson about responsibility and adulthood but quickly spirals into an unpredictable journey that pushes both grandfather and grandson to face uncomfortable realities about themselves and each other.

Fans of the Madea universe have long known Joe for his razor-sharp wit and unapologetically blunt delivery. The character has spent years playing opposite Madea, but this project repositions him as both the comedic and emotional core of the story. Themes of family, personal growth, and accountability anchor the narrative alongside Joe’s signature irreverence.

Perry stars in the title role and is joined by Jermaine Harris and Amber Reign Smith. He also serves as a producer on the project alongside Angi Bones, maintaining his well-known hands-on involvement across every stage of production.

The film represents Perry’s continued strategy of building standalone stories around familiar characters from his expansive cinematic universe. It also adds to his prolific partnership with Netflix, which has previously yielded titles like “Mea Culpa” and “A Jazzman’s Blues.”

Joe’s College Road Trip” is set to premiere globally on Netflix on February 13. The explicit red band trailer is now available to watch above.
