In the trailer for The Accountant 2, Ben Affleck is back as Christian Wolff, a favorite CPA of crime bosses.
The sequel to the 2016 film follows Wolff, an autistic accountant, as he is compelled to solve an old acquaintance’s murder, recruiting his killer-for-hire brother (Jon Bernthal) to help, and, in the process, uncovers a deadly conspiracy.
“Do you like puzzles, Mr. Wolff?” asks Cynthia Addai-Robinson’s U.S. Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina in the trailer for the film (below), which also stars Daniella Pineda, Allison Robertson and J.K. Simmons. The trailer sees the brothers shooting and punching their way out of precarious situations.
Gavin O’Connor is back in the director’s chair for the follow-up, which will premiere next month at the SXSW Film and TV Festival before heading to theaters on April 25 via Amazon.
The first film earned an impressive $155 million at the box office, but the sequel had been stuck for years in development before the project jumped to Amazon, where it was fast-tracked. Affleck recently told Vanity Fair, “You can do a movie for a big audience. And I think that’s really the same thing as a movie with characters that seem real, and that you connect to and care about.”
