Regina Hall Joins Jennifer Aniston and Peter Dinklage in Universal’s Holiday Comedy ‘Naughty’

Posted Oct 9, 2026

The ‘Girls Trip’ and ‘Scary Movie’ star is teaming up with Jennifer Aniston for Olivia Wilde’s upcoming Christmas comedy, scheduled to hit theaters in November 2027.

Regina Hall is adding another major film project to her growing résumé, joining Jennifer Aniston and Peter Dinklage in Naughty, an upcoming holiday comedy from Universal Pictures and director Olivia Wilde.

Hall’s casting brings together a familiar face from some of comedy’s biggest franchises with Aniston, best known for Friends and The Morning Show, and Dinklage, the Emmy-winning star of Game of Thrones. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 5, 2027.

Naughty centers on Mallory, played by Aniston, a single mother fighting to secure custody of her son from her manipulative ex-husband. Convinced that the traditional legal system will not deliver the outcome she needs, Mallory embarks on an extraordinary mission: finding Santa Claus and persuading him to testify on her behalf in her divorce hearing.

Dinklage will portray Santa Claus, giving the film’s holiday setting an unconventional twist. Hall is reportedly set to play Mallory’s friend, who accompanies her on the journey to the North Pole, although her specific character details have not been fully confirmed.

The premise promises a holiday comedy that moves beyond the usual Christmas festivities, blending family drama, an unconventional custody battle and a search for the one person who might provide the testimony Mallory needs.

Wilde, whose directing credits include Booksmart and Don’t Worry Darling, will direct the film from a screenplay by Jimmy Warden, who wrote Cocaine Bear and Borderline.

The project is being produced by LuckyChap Entertainment, the company led by Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara and Milan Popelka, alongside Wilde and Warden. Universal Pictures will distribute the film.

The combination of Wilde’s comedic sensibilities, Warden’s offbeat writing and an ensemble led by Aniston, Dinklage and Hall gives the project a distinctive mix of talent.

Hall has built a career spanning comedy, drama and ensemble films. Audiences know her from the Scary Movie franchise, The Best Man, Girls Trip and Support the Girls. Her ability to move between broad comedy and more dramatic roles has made her a versatile presence in Hollywood.

Her addition to Naughty also reunites her with the holiday-comedy genre at a time when established stars and unconventional premises continue to offer studios opportunities to put a fresh spin on seasonal storytelling.

With Aniston’s determined mother, Dinklage’s Santa Claus, and Hall reportedly joining the adventure, Naughty is shaping up to be a different kind of Christmas movie—one where the fate of a custody case may depend on tracking down the man who delivers presents around the world.

Universal has set November 5, 2027 as the film’s theatrical release date.
