Earlier this month, Dave Chappelle was a guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and he described his first encounter with Kanye West. Chappelle recalls that he knew he was going to be a star but the star quality was set in stone when Kanye answered a call during an edit for the show and said, “I’m at the edit for the Dave Chappelle’s Show watching sketches no one has seen before… because my life is dope and I do dope shit.”
A star was born.
Chappelle performed at Radio City Music Hall on Friday night, one of the nine shows at the venue, and his “star” buddy Kanye West surprised the crowd with a musical performance. The set was only three songs long (watch it here) but it was a great way for Chappelle to kick off the music component in his comedy show which officially doesn’t start until Monday night with Nas as his first scheduled performer.
