‘Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle’ Is The Biggest Film Ever Released By Sony In The U.S., Passing ‘Spider-Man’

Posted Apr 11, 2018

Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart’s film, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is now the biggest title in Sony history (not adjusted for inflation).

As of Tuesday it’s domestic box office stands at $403.71 and it passes 2002’s Spider-Man, which is at $403.70.  The movie, a spin on the 1995 film starring Robin Williams, ruled the box office for four weeks, three of which were consecutive.

The film recently came out on DVD, and has basically wrapped its theatrical run.

It has earned $950.8 million globally.

“Given the length of Columbia Pictures’ esteemed history, this is a cool milestone.  It gives us a grand target to shoot for with the next one,” said Tom Rothman, Sony Motion Picture Group chairman.
