According to our sources, the new Richard Pryor biopic film that is set to be directed by Bill Condon and supposedly is set to star actor and comedian Marlon Wayans (who is still attached) is temporarily put on hiatus because of funding for the film.
Our sources have confirmed that the film was set to start production this January but has now been moved to a production date of April, with the primary cast still not set in stone yet.
If you recall, Mike Epps was first set to star in the film, then Eddie Murphy, then when a new production team came on board Marlon Wayans was selected. As of this writing, we still hear that Adam Sandler and his production company is still set to produce this film, but it looks like the financing that was supposed to come from the studio is not yet available. We will see.

Thanks to EURWeb.com, (and a confirmation from JB) we just discovered that comedian and actor JB Smoove just landed a new sitcom for NBC! The new sitcom, titled Bent is (according to several of our sources from NBC) set to launch in the fall. Here is the complete article from EURWeb;
Actor J.B. Smoove speaks onstage during the “Bent” panel during the NBCUniversal portion of the 2012 Winter TCA Tour at The Langham Huntington Hotel and Spa on Jan. 6, 2012 in Pasadena, California*His mama named him Jerry Brooks, but Hollywood knows him as J.B. Smoove, the veteran stand-up comic who is perhaps best known for playing Larry David’s freeloader house guest in HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
The 47-year-old actor, writer and comedian now finds himself in the upcoming NBC series “Bent,” a romantic comedy about a laid-back surfer contractor Pete (David Walton) and his no-nonsense client Alex (Amanda Peet) who clash – and ultimately influence each other’s lives for the better – as they renovate her Venice, Calif. home.
Smoove, also an alum of “Russell Simmons Def Comedy Jam,” “Pootie Tang” and “The Chris Rock Show,” was added to the series at the last minute as Clem Patterson, “an opinionated electrician and wingman” for Pete.
“My character Clem, I dig this guy because the cool thing about when you jump into a character that you’re not used to playing, you get a chance to actually walk through it,” he told critics at the Television Critics Association Press Tour Friday in Pasadena. “We have time to gel, we have time to create these forks in the road where we kind of find out about a character as you go along. And that has happened, which is fun.

Well, it looks like its real. We hear that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are really moving with this divorce. According to The Huffington Post and In Touch Weekly, Jada has hired a prominent attorney to handle her divorce; Laura Wasser. If you recognize the name it’s probably because her name was mentioned several times in the press recently as Vaneesa Bryant just recently hired her to handle her case against her husband Kobe Bryant.
Here is the article from the Huffington Post;
Despite denying divorce rumors back in August, it appears that Will and Jada Pinkett Smith may be finally going their separate ways — at least according to In Touch Weekly.
The magazine is reporting that Jada Smith recently met with celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who has represented the likes of Britney Spears, Maria Shriver, and Kim Kardashian.
A source tells In Touch that Smith has “finally begun to take steps to dissolve their marriage,” even reportedly turning down a role in Keanu Reeves directorial debut to spend time with her kids during this “difficult time.”
The magazine first reported that Will and Jada had separated in August after 13 years of marriage. The pair issued a statement in response to the allegations: “Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false. We are still together, and our marriage is intact.”
The star couple have two kids, Jaden and Willow — whose careers were reportedly at the root of the Smiths’ marital problems — and Will Smith has one son from a previous marriage.
If Jada has indeed met with Wasser, she’ll be in good hands. Here are 10 other celebrities that Wasser has represented:
We are pretty sure you heard this news by now, but just in case you didnt, Nick Cannon was rushed to the hospital several days ago as he collapsed in his how because of an issue with his kidneys. It was later diagnosed that he had a mild kidney failure. Here is the report from MTV;
Nick Cannon has been hospitalized for mild kidney failure, his superstar wife, Mariah Carey, confirmed on Twitter early Wednesday (January 4).
“Please pray for Nick as he’s fighting to recover from a mild kidney failure. #mybraveman,” Carey tweeted. She also included a photo of herself lying by Cannon’s side in his hospital bed. The couple were vacationing in Colorado at the time of Cannon’s hospitalization. (They were recently spotted in Aspen with their twins, Moroccan and Monroe.)
In a lengthier statement, Carey further addressed Nick’s condition. “This is us in the hospital – role reversal; Last year it was me attached to the machines (after having dembabies) and Nick was there with me through it, and now here we are,” she wrote. “We’re trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful. They tried to kick me out of the hospital but here I am pon de bed with Mr. C.”
Carey even used some light humor when talking about her husband’s condition. “We’re doing OK but we’re ‘straaaaaanded in Aspen.’ #DramaticDivaPlace (I know, we could be in a lot worse places) but the truth is as long as we’re together, we’re OK,” she said. “I’m not trying to make light out of the situation because it’s a serious moment that’s very tough on all of us so please keep us and our family in your prayers. LYM.”
A rep for Cannon had no further comment about his condition when asked by MTV News.
It looks like comedian and former talk show host Arsenio Hall is coming back to television! Yeah, but not how you may think! If you have been following his twitter account the last several days, Hall has been leading up to a big announcement, and we for one were thinking that it had to do with something pertaining to a talk show. Well, were were wrong.
According to a press release we received from NBC yesterday morning, Hall has joined the new cast of Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice, here is what it stated;
“Donald Trump’s new competitors on “Celebrity Apprentice,” include “American Idol” alum Clay Aiken, “Star Trek” veteran George Takei, bodybuilding champion/”Incredible Hulk” actor Lou Ferrigno, “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Teresa Giudice and former talk show host Arsenio Hall.
Trump unveiled the names on NBC’s “Today” Wednesday, the morning after the Iowa caucuses for the Republican presidential nomination.
‘Rounding out the cast for the new season, which premieres on NBC on Feb. 12: radio and TV host Adam Carolla, magician Penn Jillette, Twisted Sister rocker Dee Snider, car racing legend Michael Andretti, “American Chopper” star Paul Teutul Sr., supermodel Cheryl Tiegs, pop singer Debbie Gibson, actress Tia Carrere, mob daughter Victoria Gotti, comedienne Lisa Lampanelli, former Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza, actress Aubrey O’Day and model Patricia Velásquez.”
