To know one’s surprise at all, comedian Kevin Hart has managed to continue to capitalize on the social media with his latest DVD, Laugh At My Pain.
We just discovered that Laugh At My Pain has now become the number one stand up performance album sold on Itunes of all time, the number three comedy film and the number nine movie overall. Now that Hart is about to reach three million Twitter followers, is this really surprising?
Anyway, Laugh At My Pain was produced by Codeblack Entertainment late last winter in less than 200 theaters and recorded over seven million dollars during it’s theatrical run. As we said, Hart continues to break new ground.

One of our sources who was present yesterday at the Winter 2012 Television Critics Association Press Tour, heard some interesting news from Showtime’s President Of Entertainment David Nevins. He stated that they were going to invest heavily in documentaries and that one of them was going to be a doc about the late great comedian Richard Pryor. He also stated that its in the works and that the contract and minor details are being worked out with the family.
After doing some of our own research, we discovered that the network is dealing with Jenifer Pryor, who, at the moment, has the rights to Pryor’s estate as she was married to the late comedian twice over the years and had won a legal battle with his children over the estate.
Where does all of this fit in with the film that is supposed to star Marlon Wayans? As of this writing, no one knows, but we do know that the Richard Pryor biopic has stalled momentaririly and is supposed to pick up some steam in April. We will see.

For several months we have been reporting that comedian Tony Roberts was in the lab and about to drop his new one hour special, which would be a follow up to his Showtime special titled Wired.
Well, since that last special aired Roberts did a comedy tour for the relief effort in Haiti, filmed several music videos, and even is behind a bigger project that he won’t tell us about. But what we can say is that we got a sneak peek at what the special may look like and some behind- the-scenes things from his past year, so we decided to pass it along to you. Take a peek here;
We just discovered that comedians Earthquake and Rodney Perry are just about set to film their one hour specials with Codeblack Entertainment during the NBA All Star Weekend In Orlando next month at the Hard Rock Cafe.
We hear that the specials will be filmed on Friday February 24th, and both deals are just about finalized.
Codeblack Entertainment, the production company behind Kevin Hart’s Laugh At My Pain and DeRay Davis’ Power Play, plus the upcoming special from comedian Gary Owen, has several other specials planned with a couple of other comedians that we hear will all be launched in 2012. More on that soon.
We did discover that Codeblack plans on producing another Shaq All Star Comedy Jam as a taped special on Saturday with comedians Capone, Gary Owen, and Jay Pharaoh (of Saturday Night Live fame) already booked, with a couple of other comics to be booked this week.
