A bold new dark comedy‑thriller is taking shape with an unexpected ensemble: Tyrese Gibson, Billy Zane, Jake Busey, and Armie Hammer have all signed on to star in Mascotland, a film that blends satire, suspense, and off‑beat humor in a world where masculinity is both the joke and the danger.
Mascotland follows a group of deeply flawed men who find themselves entangled in a bizarre underground retreat designed to “rebuild” their sense of manhood. What begins as a misguided self‑help getaway quickly spirals into chaos, exposing the absurdity, insecurity, and volatility simmering beneath the surface. The film leans into its dark comedic tone while weaving in thriller elements that push the characters — and the audience — into unpredictable territory.
Tyrese Gibson brings his signature intensity and charisma to the project, stepping into a role that allows him to flex both dramatic and comedic muscles. Billy Zane, known for his ability to play charming yet unhinged characters, adds a layer of eccentric unpredictability. Jake Busey, with his knack for off‑kilter humor, fits seamlessly into the film’s satirical edge. Armie Hammer’s casting marks a notable return to the screen, adding another layer of intrigue to the ensemble.
The film’s tone is described as sharp, irreverent, and unapologetically strange — a send‑up of modern masculinity wrapped in a thriller framework. With its eclectic cast and genre‑bending premise, Mascotland is already generating buzz as a project that aims to push boundaries and spark conversation.
Production details, including release plans and additional casting, are expected to be announced soon. For now, the combination of talent and concept positions Mascotland as one of the more daring and unconventional films on the horizon.
Nicolas Cage is Spider-Man — sort of — in Prime Video‘s new series Spider-Noir.
Above is the show’s first teaser trailer, which presents the Marvel Comics Spider-Verse character in live action for the first time.
Marking the Oscar winner’s first leading TV series role, Cage plays Ben Reilly, an aging and down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.
The trailer shows Cage as a world-weary gumshoe and a black-clad web-slinger and features the tagline: “With No Power Comes No Responsibility.”
Prime Video also announced a premiere date, May 27th, and says the episodes will be dropped as a binge release.
The company also has a unique presentation for the project: Spider-Noir will be available to stream in two different ways, in “Authentic Black & White” and “True-Hue Full Color” (the original comics were rather muted and monochromatic, but in color).
The full cast includes Lamorne Morris (Fargo), Li Jun Li (Sinners), Karen Rodriguez (The Hunting Wives), Abraham Popoola (Slow Horses), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), and Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin).
Spider-Noir is produced by Sony Pictures Television for MGM+ and Prime Video. Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag) directed and executive-produced the first two episodes. Oren Uziel (The Lost City) and Steve Lightfoot (The Punisher) serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Uziel and Lightfoot developed the series with the team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse: Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal.

Jennifer Hudson is returning to the world of Dreamgirls—this time behind the scenes. The Oscar‑winning performer is set to produce a brand‑new Broadway revival of the beloved musical, marking a full‑circle moment nearly two decades after her star‑making turn as Effie White in the 2006 film adaptation.
The revival will bring Dreamgirls back to the stage with fresh creative energy, updated design, and a renewed focus on the musical’s themes of ambition, artistry, and the cost of fame. Hudson’s involvement signals a major vote of confidence in the production, given her deep personal connection to the material and her long‑standing admiration for the show’s legacy.
Hudson’s portrayal of Effie White earned her an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and widespread acclaim, instantly cementing her as one of the most powerful vocalists and performers of her generation. Now, as a producer, she steps into a new role—one that allows her to help shape the next chapter of a musical that changed her life.
The revival is expected to honor the original Broadway production while introducing new creative elements to connect with today’s audiences. Casting, creative team details, and production timelines are still under wraps, but anticipation is already building across the theater community.
For Hudson, the project represents both a homecoming and an evolution. Her journey from American Idol breakout to award‑winning actress, talk‑show host, and now Broadway producer reflects the same resilience and drive that define Dreamgirls itself.
As the revival moves forward, fans of the musical—and of Hudson—are eager to see how she reimagines a story that continues to resonate across generations.
Jamie Foxx is back. The multitalented entertainer has released “Somebody,” his first official single in over a decade, via Foxxhole Productions.
He co-wrote and co-produced it with Jermaine Carter, Wade Albert Branch III, and Sam Pounds.
On the soul-stirring track, Foxx yearns to find someone to fill a void left by heartbreak. “Can somebody find somebody to get this somebody off my mind?” he sings.
Foxx announced his musical return in an Instagram post shared Jan. 29th. “Bout that time #somebody,” he said to his 17 million followers.
“Somebody” is the follow-up to Foxx’s fifth album, Hollywood: A Story of a Dozen Roses, released in 2015 via RCA Records. The album included the Chris Brown-assisted single “You Changed Me” and the Wale-featured banger “Like a Drum.”
In 2025, Foxx was honored with the Ultimate Icon Award at the BET Awards, alongside Mariah Carey, Kirk Franklin, and Snoop Dogg. In his acceptance speech, the “Unpredictable” singer got emotional as he reflected on his 2023 health scare.
“I’ve got to be honest, when I saw the memoriam… I was like, man, that could’ve been me,” said Foxx. “I don’t know why I went through what I went through, but I know my second chance, I’m not going to turn down. I have so much love to give.”
He also expressed gratitude to everyone for their support during his recovery and gave a heartfelt thanks to his daughter, Corinne, for being by his side.

Jo Koy has officially cemented his place among Hollywood’s most celebrated entertainers — literally. The beloved comedian was honored with a prestigious Hand and Footprint Ceremony at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre, marking a major milestone in a career built on sharp storytelling, cultural pride, and an unwavering connection with audiences around the world.
The ceremony, one of Hollywood’s oldest and most exclusive traditions, recognizes artists whose work has made a lasting impact on film, television, and global entertainment. For Koy, the honor reflects not only his success as a stand‑up powerhouse but also his growing influence as an actor, producer, and cultural ambassador.
Surrounded by family, friends, and fellow performers, Koy stepped onto the famed forecourt to leave his handprints and footprints in cement — a symbolic moment that underscores how far he has come from his early days performing in small clubs. The comedian spoke with emotion and gratitude, acknowledging the Filipino community that has championed him throughout his rise and the fans who have embraced his humor across generations.

Kenan Thompson and Lamorne Morris are teaming up for a high‑energy action‑comedy adaptation of Unwanted, the popular QCode podcast that blends suspense, humor, and fast‑paced adventure. The upcoming film marks a fresh pairing of two of comedy’s most versatile performers, each bringing a distinct style to a story built on chaos, unlikely heroism, and sharp banter.
Unwanted follows two ordinary friends whose lives spiral into danger after they accidentally become entangled in a criminal conspiracy. What begins as a simple misunderstanding quickly escalates into a cross‑country chase involving assassins, federal agents, and a rotating cast of eccentric characters. The movie aims to capture the same mix of humor and tension that made the podcast a breakout hit.
Thompson, the longest‑running cast member in Saturday Night Live history, brings his signature warmth and comedic timing to the project. Morris, known for his standout roles in New Girl and Woke, adds a charismatic, quick‑witted edge that plays perfectly against Thompson’s grounded charm. Together, they form a duo built for both laughs and action.
The original podcast, created by Brett Neveu and produced by QCode, earned praise for its cinematic storytelling and dynamic character chemistry. The film adaptation is expected to expand the world of the audio series, adding bigger set pieces, heightened stakes, and a visual flair that leans into the action‑comedy genre.
With Thompson and Morris at the center, Unwanted is shaping up to be a crowd‑pleasing blend of buddy‑comedy energy and high‑stakes adventure. Production details and a release date are still under wraps, but anticipation is already building as the project moves forward.

The red band trailer for “Joe’s College Road Trip” has officially dropped, and Tyler Perry is giving fan-favorite character Joe Simmons his long-overdue moment in the spotlight.
After more than two decades as a scene-stealing supporting player in the Madea franchise, Joe is finally stepping into a leading role in this upcoming Netflix comedy. Perry wrote and directed the film, which follows Joe on a cross-country college tour with his grandson B.J. The trip starts as a straightforward lesson about responsibility and adulthood but quickly spirals into an unpredictable journey that pushes both grandfather and grandson to face uncomfortable realities about themselves and each other.
Fans of the Madea universe have long known Joe for his razor-sharp wit and unapologetically blunt delivery. The character has spent years playing opposite Madea, but this project repositions him as both the comedic and emotional core of the story. Themes of family, personal growth, and accountability anchor the narrative alongside Joe’s signature irreverence.
Perry stars in the title role and is joined by Jermaine Harris and Amber Reign Smith. He also serves as a producer on the project alongside Angi Bones, maintaining his well-known hands-on involvement across every stage of production.
The film represents Perry’s continued strategy of building standalone stories around familiar characters from his expansive cinematic universe. It also adds to his prolific partnership with Netflix, which has previously yielded titles like “Mea Culpa” and “A Jazzman’s Blues.”
Joe’s College Road Trip” is set to premiere globally on Netflix on February 13. The explicit red band trailer is now available to watch above.

NBC‘s The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, which stars and is exec-produced by a raft of Saturday Night Live alumni, is getting a repeat behind the venerable late-night show.
The network will repeat the pilot episode of the comedy, which stars Tracy Morgan and Bobby Moynihan and is exec-produced by Tina Fey, behind SNL on February 28 at 1 a.m. ET.
It is the latest project featuring a current or former SNL castmate to land a slot behind Lorne Michaels’ vehicle; the network did something similar around Kenan Thompson’s Kenan, which premiered in 2021, and the Fey-exec produced Great News, which premiered in April 2017 and was repeated after SNL repeats in the summer.
This comes after Reggie Dinkins debuted to 5.8 million Live + Same Day viewers last month after the midseason comedy was handed an early premiere behind an NFL playoff game between the Los Angeles Rams and Chicago Bears. It was NBC’s most-watched comedy series debut in three years, since the reboot of Night Court.
The second episode of the series will air Monday, February 23, after another repeat of the pilot, with its run continuing Mondays at 8:30 p.m. from March 2.
The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins follows a disgraced former football player (Morgan) on a mission to rehabilitate his image. It also stars Daniel Radcliffe, Erika Alexander, Precious Way, and Jalyn Hall.
The pilot’s writers, Robert Carlock and Sam Means, executive produce with Morgan, Fey, Eric Gurian, and David Miner. The series is produced by Universal Television, Little Stranger, Bevel Gears, Means End Productions, Streetlife Productions, and 3 Arts.
