Steven Soderbergh returns to the big screen with a gaggle of wacky characters in the first trailer for “Logan Lucky.”
That includes Channing Tatum who is reuniting with the director after working with him on “Haywire,” “Side Effects,” and “Magic Mike.” The movie following sibling Jimmy, (Tatum) Mellie (Riley Keough), and Clyde Logan (Adam Driver) who set out to execute an elaborate robbery during the Coca-Cola 600 race.
But to do so, they’re going to need some help. That’s where Joe Bang (Daniel Craig) comes in.
“I am in-car-cer-a-ted,” Craig tells Tatum and Driver. “Yeah, we got a plan to get you out.” Tatum responds.
“You Logans must be a simple-minded as people say,” Craig says later in the trailer.
Judging by the trailer alone, Craig’s manic disposition and loud cackle hint a major departure from the even-keeled James Bond that launched him to stardom.
The all-star ensemble cast also includes Seth MacFarlane, Katie Holmes, Hilary Swank, Katherine Waterston, and Sebastian Stan. The project marks Soderbergh’s first theatrical release since 2013. Recently he took control of “The Knick” which lasted two seasons on Cinemax. He also made “Behind the Candelabra” for HBO, which won two Golden Globes and almost a dozen Emmys.
Bleecker Street and Fingerprint Releasing have scheduled “Logan Lucky” to be released on Aug. 18. Watch the trailer below:

Hannah John-Kamen Lands Role In Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp’

A sequel to “Ant-Man,” the 2015 superhero film based on the Marvel Comics characters of the same name, is in the works, with Paul Rudd back to star, and Peyton Reed back to direct from a script Rudd and Gabriel Ferrari.
Titled “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” Evangeline Lilly will star as The Wasp next to Rudd’s Ant-Man.
We can now add British actress Hannah John-Kamen to the movie’s cast; according to Variety, the actress has signed up to play a “key role” in “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” although details on what the role is aren’t public information at this time; neither is what the film’s plot will be. So it’s up to you Marvel Universe experts to begin speculating on who exactly (a “key role”) John-Kamen has been cast to play.
The actress can currently be seen leading Syfy’s “Killjoys,” and most recently joined the cast of MGM and Warner Bros’ “Tomb Raider.” She also has a lead role in Steven Spielberg’s “Ready Player One” film adaptation.
“Ant-Man and the Wasp” is scheduled to be released on July 6, 2018.

Michael B. Jordan Lands In ‘Wrong Answer’; Film Tackles The Cheating Scandal At Atlanta Public Schools
Ta-Nehisi Coates will write the script for the story about how a struggling Atlanta middle school participated in a standardized test cheating scandal.
Director Ryan Coogler and actor Michael B. Jordan will reunite once again, after working together on Fruitvale Station, Creed and Black Panther.
Their fourth collaboration will be an adaptation of the New Yorker piece “Wrong Answer.” Ta-Nehisi Coates will write the script based on Rachel Aviv’s article. Her 2014 piece explored the standardized test cheating scandal at Atlanta Public Schools through the lens of one middle school.
Jordan will play math teacher Damany Lewis, who struggles under the pressure imposed on his students and school to meet unrealistic standardized testing scores as part of the No Child Left Behind project. In order to save their jobs and prevent their school from shutting down, he joined in an effort to cheat the scores. The scandal led to 11 teachers being convicted on racketeering charges.
Coogler will produce along with Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner of Plan B. New Regency’s Arnon Milchan also will produce, and New Regency will fully finance.
Coates is the writer of the new Black Panther comic book series, which is the basis for Coogler’s upcoming Marvel and Disney superhero film. He also is a New York Times best-selling author and a recipient of the coveted MacArthur Foundation Genius Fellowship. His second book Between the World and Me won the 2015 National Book Award for Nonfiction and was a finalist for the 2016 Pulitzer Prize. Coates has previously written for David Simon’s upcoming civil rights miniseries. He is repped by UTA, Watkins/Loomis Agency, and Del, Shaw, Moonves.
Jordan was most recently seen in Creed and will next be seen in Black Panther. He is set to star in HBO’s Fahrenheit 451 with Michael Shannon. Jordan is repped by WME, MGMT Entertainment and Bloom Hergott.
Coogler, whose Black Panther is slated to hit theaters Feb. 16, 2018, is repped by WME and Cohen & Gardner.
‘Mummy’ Star Sofia Boutella Joins Michael B. Jordan in ‘Fahrenheit 451’
Sofia Boutella, who will soon be seen as the titular character in The Mummy, has landed another high-profile project: HBO Films’ upcoming movie Fahrenheit 451.
Boutella is playing the female lead, while Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon are also starring in the adaptation of the Ray Bradbury classic.
Bradbury’s 1953 novel is set in a futuristic America where books are outlawed and those that are discovered are burned by “firemen.” Jordan will play Montag, a young fireman who forsakes his world, battles his mentor and struggles to regain his humanity. Shannon will portray Beatty, Montag’s captain and mentor.
Boutella will play Clarisse, an informant caught between the competing interests of Montag and Beatty.
The award-winning book has been adapted multiple times, including a 1966 film by Francois Truffaut and a 1982 Radio BBC version.
Ramin Bahrani and Amir Naderi (99 Homes) co-wrote HBO’s new take, and Bahrani will also direct the telepic.
Jordan will executive produce via his Outlier Productions. Sarah Green will serve in the same capacity via her Brace Cove Productions. Alan Gasmer and Peter Jaysen will also exec produce, with David Coatsworth set to produce.
Boutella, a former dancer who toured with Madonna and worked with Nike, had a breakout role in Kingsman: The Secret Service opposite Colin Firth and Samuel L. Jackson and later starred in Star Trek Beyond. She is starring opposite Tom Cruise in Universal’s The Mummy, which launches the studio’s monster-focused dark universe and opens Friday in theaters. The actress also has Atomic Blonde with Charlize Theron due out July 28, and will star opposite Jodie Foster in Hotel Artemis, which will soon go into production. Boutella is repped by CAA, 42 in the UK and Felker Toczek.

Starz Sets Date For ‘Survivor’s Remorse’ Season 4 Debut
Starz announced the highly-anticipated Season Four return of STARZ Original comedy series “Survivor’s Remorse” on Sunday, August 20th at 10PM ET/PT. The upcoming season of “Survivor’s Remorse” executive produced by Tom Werner, Maverick Carter, LeBron James, Mike O’Malley, Paul Wachter and Victor Levin will include ten half-hour episodes and include guest stars: Isaiah Washington, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Neal McDonough and DJ Khaled to name a few.

Russell Simmons’ All Def Digital Partners With Jason Zeldes To Release ‘Romeo Is Bleeding’
All Def Digital and Russell Simmons have partnered with award-winning editor Jason Zeldes to executive produce Zeldes’ documentary feature directorial debut “Romeo Is Bleeding,” which explores the power of spoken word poetry to save and elevate youth, in one of the most violent suburbs of the country.
With Donté Clark’s evocative and stirring street poetry serving as a backdrop, “Romeo is Bleeding” captures the community tensions, violence and heartbreak that haunt neighborhoods like Richmond, California across the country (and around the world). As Donté leads a cast of high school students in an effort to mount a fresh adaptation of “Romeo and Juliet,” the film uses the Bard’s classic to delve deeper into the contemporary socio-economic issues that drive the violence in their city. As the play comes together on the stage, real life begins to parallel the Shakespearean tragedy. Pushed to his limits, Donté must decide if he is capable of being the leader that Richmond’s youth wants and needs him to be.
The Film Collaborative will release the award-winning documentary in select theatres beginning July 28.
The announcement was jointly made today by Sanjay Sharma, President and CEO of All Def Digital, and Romeo is Bleedingproducer Michael Klein of Circadian Pictures.
“This is a powerful and provocative film that could not be more timely, or timeless. It carries a critical message about the power of the written – and spoken – word to save and transform individuals and communities,” said Simmons. “As funding for the arts, the youth, and community services continues to get slashed, Romeo Is Bleeding and its star show us the importance of the arts in our lives and how one person can make a huge difference in even the most hardened of communities.” Simmons, known widely as the founder of iconic hip hop brands such as Def Jam Records and Phat Farm, also brought spoken word to the forefront of artistic culture through nearly a decade of Def Poetry Jam on HBO. He also received a Tony Award for Brave New Voices, a spoken word inspired play on Broadway.
“When I met Donté, I knew this would be the story, subject and mission behind my first film. His personal story and his ability to take a timeless tale and transform it into a tool to teach and redeem a group of kids was profoundly inspirational, and necessary in a time when communities are hurting, tensions are rising, and hope seems fleeting,” said Zeldes.
“While we see conflict and division throughout the country, communities grappling with gun violence and a nation struggling with proper policing methods, Donté reminds us that there’s hope in the power of art and the importance of creating safe spaces for healthy expression in every community. He shows us that the story doesn’t have to end with tragedy,” said Michael Klein.
“Romeo is Bleeding is an important project for ALL DEF as we have been quietly building a spoken word platform, ALL DEF POETRY, that highlights spoken word poets and artists every day and has been featured in outlets from PBS to Teen Vogue,” said Sharma. “We see a renewed interest in the art form everywhere, as a therapeutic tool in school counseling on the one hand, and as a driving force behind lyricism in hip hop from Chance the Rapper to Kendrick Lamar on the other. The project extends our mission of being a voice to the voiceless, helping elevate Donté’s personal journey, work and poetry, as well as RAW Talent and the RYSE Center in Richmond which help youth every day turn to the arts for solace.”
“Romeo Is Bleeding” has won a number of awards at high profile film festivals including Audience Award for Best Documentary Feature at the San Francisco International Film Festival, Audience Award Best Documentary at the Aspen Film Fest, Best Documentary Feature at the Napa Valley Film Festival and many more.
In addition to its theatrical release, “Romeo is Bleeding” will also be available via VOD as well as DVD and BluRay on August 1st.

Kerry Washington Lands In New Universal Comedy With Eva Longoria Titled ‘24-7’
Universal has acquired 24-7, a pitch by Baltimore-based screenwriter Sarah Rothschild that will be developed as a star pairing of Eva Longoria and Kerry Washington. The actresses will produce what is described as a workplace comedy, Longoria through her UnbeliEVAble Entertainment banner and Washington through her Simpson Street banner. UnbeliEVAble’s Ben Spector also will produce.
Rothschild is a writer on Love, Unscripted for Awesomeness TV; the Universal comedy The Gauntlet; and The Dog Walker, which has Alison Eastwood attached to direct. The writer is represented by Verve and attorney Kim Stenton.
Longoria is with CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Group and Washington with CAA, Washington Square Films and attorney Gretchen Rush.
Longoria most recently was seen in Ricardo de Montreuil’s Lowriders as well as the BBC Two miniseries Decline and Fall, an adaptation of Evelyn Waugh’s classic social satire. Simpson Street is developing feature films based on the books The City of Saints and Thieves with Will Packer and Universal; The Perfect Mother, which is set up at TriStar; and The Mothers at Warner Bros.
VP Production Sara Scott will oversee development on 24-7 for Universal. VP Will Rack will oversee development for UnbeliEVAble, and VP Pilar Savone for Simpson Street.
