In a competitive situation, Showtime has landed a comedy series project from former The Daily Show correspondent Jessica Williams and indie filmmaker Jim Strouse, the duo behind The Incredible Jessica James, with Williams set to star.

Showtime

Williams and Strouse will write and executive produce the comedy, which tells the story of an African American aspiring science fiction writer (Williams) who comes of age in Brooklyn. Strause will direct.

Showtime is the studio. I hear Annapurna TV is in negotiations to come aboard as a producer.

Showtime has upcoming comedy series White Famous which also is toplined by a late-night alum, SNL‘s Jay Pharoah.

Jamie Foxx Gives The Latest Update Of The Mike Tyson Biopic

Jamie Foxx is a master impressionist, as we all know from his hilarious comedy bits and Oscar-winning performance as Ray Charles. But if you saw his 1999 comedy Held Up, you knew it was only a matter of time before Jamie accepted the role he’s been preparing his whole life to play: “Iron” Mike Tyson.

Sadly, Foxx’s A-1 impression of Mike from Held Up isn’t available on YouTube. But he did give Hot 97’s Ebro In The Morning a killer preview of his version of Mike that could sell out a few theaters without a trailer.

Both Foxx and Tyson have confirmed the project is happening, and the legendary Martin Scorsese is directing. “Filming hasn’t started yet but it’s going to happen,” said Tyson, adding, “A lot of people aren’t going to like the things I’ve done in my life.”

Sources also say that “Mike knows it is Jamie’s dream to play him and they have talked about gym work and how he could put him through his paces. The only thing is if they go sparring and Mike connects, Jamie may never make any movie again.

Tate plays Jamaica, Queens councilman Rashad Tate.

Tate, who we just saw in Girls Trip has also been cast as the lead in an upcoming ABC drama, Salamander.

From Executive Producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and show creator Courtney Kemp, Power is a drama straddling the glamorous lifestyles of Manhattan’s rich and infamous and the dark underworld of the international drug trade.

Ghost can’t outrun his past choices and mounting enemies this season, which threaten his freedom and his family’s safety at every turn. His fight for redemption brings him face-to-face with the Feds, the media, new allies, and old foes. But the biggest obstacle for Ghost remains himself and his internal struggle between the man he wants to be and the one he really is.

Dave Chappelle And Chris Rock Debut Promo For New Netflix Stand-Up Specials

Netflix recently released a promo for their latest run of online content, and Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock happened to be included in the latest batch of shows, stand-ups, and series to be pushed. This promo is interesting because it finds comedians breaking through important scenes from popular Netflix shows and delivering their own style of dialogue to fit the scene. Some of the comedians seen in different scenes during the promo include Ellen DeGeneres, Jerry Seinfeld, Dave Chappelle, and Chris Rock.

Previously, Dave Chappelle signed on for two Netflix comedy specials that gained him tens of millions of dollars. Now, news has surfaced revealing Chappelle may have more on the way. In the promo, one clip finds Dave Chappelle walking into a Stranger Thingsclip with all of the kids from the show, where he catches them trying to break into a room. Another clip finds Chris Rock standing up on lunchroom table while firing off an O.J. Simpson joke to the ladies of Orange Is The New Black. From there, we see Chappelle and Rock screaming at the fact that Eleven from Stranger Things can crush a coke can with her mind.
