New York, NY – April 28, 2025 – Today, BET+ and BET Studios announced the season two greenlight of “DIARRA FROM DETROIT,” the critically acclaimed dramedy from creator, executive producer, writer, and star Diarra Kilpatrick. Bryan Terrell Clark, DomiNque Perry, and Jon Chaffin are confirmed to return as series regulars in the upcoming season, continuing their dynamic roles alongside Kilpatrick.
“Following a breakout first season that quickly became a favorite among both fans and critics, BET Studios is excited to bring DIARRA FROM DETROIT back to BET+ for season two,” said Aisha Summers Burke, Executive Vice-President, and General Manager, BET Studios. “Diarra’s voice is bold, original, and unapologetically real—exactly the kind of storytelling that resonates deeply with our audience. This next chapter raises the stakes while keeping the same sharp wit and heart that made the series a standout.”
“DIARRA FROM DETROIT” quickly captivated audiences and critics alike with its genre-blending storytelling, razor-sharp wit, and standout performances. The series was named one of the Best TV Shows of 2024 by Deadline, Rolling Stone, and Variety, and has held a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score since its March 2024 premiere. Rolling Stone hailed it “one hell of an entertaining cross-hybrid series” and “among the year’s most pleasant TV surprises,” Variety called it “refreshing, captivating, and unapologetically Black,” and The Hollywood Reporter praised it as “a sparkling showcase for creator-star Diarra Kilpatrick.”
The accolades have continued into 2025, with the series earning two Film Independent Spirit Awards nominations and nominations from the NAACP Image Awards and GLAAD Media Awards. Kilpatrick was also honored with a Gracie Award for Actress in a Breakthrough Role (Drama). During its linear run on BET in early 2025, the show solidified its hit status, ranking as the No. 1 new series on cable among Black viewers year-to-date and topping key demos including Black adults 18-49, 25-54, and total Black viewers 2+.* Among all scripted cable series, it currently ranks second overall with Black audiences 18-49 & 25-54, just behind BET long-running hit Tyler Perry’s Sistas.*
“We’re excited to be back and grateful for the opportunity to take viewers on another very wild, very Detroit adventure,” said Diarra Kilpatrick.
“It has been incredible watching fans and critics embrace this show in the way that they have and we’re so excited to be back for more,” said Kenya Barris, executive producer. “Last season proved just how wildly talented Diarra Kilpatrick is and I, for one, can’t wait for everyone to see what her and the team have in store this time around.”
Season one followed a divorcing schoolteacher who refuses to believe she’s been ghosted by her rebound Tinder date. Her determined search leads her into a decades-old mystery rooted in the Detroit underworld. As the case deepens, she enlists the help of her coworkers, friends, and lovers—forming an unlikely crew navigating danger and secrets.
Produced by BET Studios and Khalabo Ink Society, “DIARRA FROM DETROIT” is executive produced by Diarra Kilpatrick, Kenya Barris, and Miles Orion Feldsott.
Production for the new season and a premiere will be announced at a later date.

The fearless anthology series Love, Death + Robots is returning for a fourth volume of mechanical madness. You can always expect this anthology series to serve up some wild stuff, and Volume 4 is definitely no exception.
“I try to get a mix of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy,” creator Tim Miller (Deadpool, Terminator: Dark Fate) tells Tudum about the new lineup of shorts. “And we work with some really fucking fantastic writers and artists.”
Love, Death + Robots is created by Tim Miller and is executive produced by David Fincher (Mindhunter, The Killer). Jennifer Yuh Nelson (Kung Fu Panda 2, Kill Team Kill) returns as supervising director. Miller, Yuh Nelson, and Fincher have all directed episodes of the series: Fincher made his animation debut with Volume 3’s “Bad Traveling.”
Each episode of Love, Death + Robots comes from a different team of artists.
Miller told Netflix, “One of my biggest joys in making LDR — and I think David shares this feeling — is when artists or directors make choices you would never make. Their ideas, shot choices, angles, sense of timing — whatever — is something foreign to your visual language but also awesome!”
As you can see in the trailer at the top of this article, you can always expect the unexpected and un-called for when it comes to Love, Death + Robots. The upcoming volume will include T. rex gladiators, scheming felines, household appliances who need better work-life balance, and much more.
“Our hope is that people begin to understand that this is a boundary-less sandbox,” said Fincher. “You know, we want to be able to play. We just want to be able to surprise people and show them stuff that hopefully scares them, or gives them the giggles: eye candy worth 11 minutes or six minutes of their time.”
“There’s amazing adaptability and flexibility there,” Yuh Nelson said. “Sometimes you have to just let it go where it’s going to go. Each season is colored differently because of the stories that are chosen. Sometimes they’re a little bit funnier, sometimes they’re really dark, sometimes they’re more focused on action. I think this season we’ve really tried to balance the light and the dark, the humor, and the real tragedy.”
There will be 10 original shorts in the new volume.
You can watch the first three volumes of Love, Death + Robots right now. Volume 4 will be streaming — or, shall we say, “extreming” — on May 15, only on Netflix.

Here are some shots and the poster from Season 4 of Love, Death + Robots:

Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black was just the beginning — make way for Tyler Perry’s She the People.
In Perry’s first comedy series on Netflix, Terri J. Vaughn stars as a politician who wins her election — and then realizes her new job will involve a lot more than what she originally signed up for. The 16 episodes in Season 1 will premiere in two batches. Part 1 will debut May 22, with Part 2 releasing Aug. 14. See new photos from the show below.
She the People is the second series under Perry’s multi-year first-look creative partnership with Netflix, which sees him write, produce, and direct films, series, and faith-based features. Perry’s latest film, The Six Triple Eight, became his most viewed film on Netflix in its first four weeks of streaming, and the release boosted viewing for his other films by 45 percent.
She The People will premiere on the heels of hit drama Beauty in Black Part 1 reaching #1 on the Global Top 10 TV List (English) after its debut in Oct. 2024.
Learn everything you need to know about the upcoming comedy, below:
The series follows politician Antoinette Dunkerson (Vaughn), whom we first meet during her campaign for Lieutenant Governor. After she wins her election, she must figure out how to thrive under a sexist and condescending governor, while attempting to keep her family in line now that they’re all in the public eye.
The She the People cast features some familiar faces from the Tyler Perry universe, including Vaughn (Daddy’s Little Girls) and Jo Marie Payton (Meet the Browns), along with newcomers like Jade Novah (That’s My Jam), Drew Olivia Tillman (This Is Us), Tré Boyd (House of Payne), and Dyon Brooks (A Naughty Christmess Story).
Perry is the writer, director, and producer of She the People. Niya Palmer is co-creator of the series with Perry. Palmer, Keisha Lance Bottoms, and star Vaughn executive produce. Bottoms, formerly the mayor of Atlanta and an adviser to President Biden, brings her political experience to the project. Angi Bones and Tony L. Strickland will also produce for Tyler Perry Studios.
She the People will be sworn in this year. The first eight episodes will premiere on May 22. The next eight will drop on Aug. 14.

Nina Rosenstein, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming, Late Night and Specials, quote: “We’ve worked with Jerrod since his first special in 2014, and it’s truly been inspiring to see him grow and push boundaries at every turn.
