JB Smoove’s Comedic Role In ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ Proves To Be Enthusiastic!
In case you haven’t seen the latest Disney/Marvel film, Spider-Man: Far From Home, you should stop reading this article right now.
But if you have seen the film then everything in this article you will probably agree with; comedian and actor JB Smoove (of HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm‘) pulled off the comic relief role in the film with ease!
In the film, Smoove plays one of the teachers, named Julius, who accompanies the students-including Peter Parker (played brilliantly by Tom Holland) and his friends- on a European trip, and as you know Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) shows up with the Elementals and the battle ensues. Spider-Man spends the entire film trying to keep his friends out of danger, while also trying to give Mary Jane (Zendaya) a necklace and a first kiss, while Smoove always has a comeback one-liner during said ruckus (no pun intended for the Smoove fans).
Smoove does an excellent job of pulling off the teacher with his comedic timing that you almost forget that there’s danger afoot; especially because there are so many comedic parts in the film.
Smoove even has a memorable part in the hotel that definitely kept the funny pace of the film.
When the film finally concludes, we have to admit we were expecting some more from Smoove but we can say that there’s no way he can’t be involved in the next film because the fans seemed to love his performance and his comedic timing. It would be a very noticeable absence if he’s NOT included in the film. Kudos for Smoove to land the role and to actually keep pace with the other actors and not just being a role to fit the quota.

A$AP Rocky Arrested In Sweden For Alleged Street Fight
Hip-hop star ASAP Rocky was arrested in Sweden on suspicion of aggravated assault after a street fight that broke out on Sunday between two local men and members of his entourage, Swedish prosecutors told Agence France Presse on Wednesday.
Sweden’s Prosecution Authority told the AFP the rapper is one of four people who’ve been arrested and that two are suspected of aggravated assault and one of assault. The identities of the other three were not known.
AFP reported that the authorities have until Saturday to decide whether to formally take action. That’s the day before ASAP Rocky is due to headline Wireless Festival in London on Sunday, July 7.
Reps for ASAP Rocky and the Swedish prosecutors did not immediately respond for comment.
A video published by TMZ appeared to show the rapper punching another man in the street after Rocky’s performance at Stockholm’s Smash festival. In the video, the artist — born Rakim Mayers — can be seen throwing a young man into the street and throwing several punches at him while the man is on the ground.
Rocky has also posted several videos on social media which he said show the scene before the fight with a man following him. After the fight, Rocky and the other men attacking the man in the video then left the scene, leaving him on the side of the road. Police and an ambulance later showed up and statements were taken from witnesses.
ASAP Rocky’s Instagram videos show he and his entourage repeatedly tell a pair of men to stop following them after one of the men accuses the rapper’s team of breaking his headphones. “We don’t know these guys and we didn’t want trouble. They followed us for four blocks,” ASAP Rocky writes in the caption for the first video.
Rocky also claimed that they were “drug addicts” and were harassing women.
“SO A FEW DRUG ADDICTS ARE NOT MY FANS, WE DONT KNOW THESE GUYS AND WE DIDNT WANT TROUBLE, THEY FOLLOWED US FOR 4 BLOCKS, AND THEY WERE SLAPPING GIRLS BUTTS WHO PASSED, GIVE ME A BREAK,” Rocky wrote in a caption.
In the second, he goes on to accuse one of the men following them of hitting his security guard “in the face with headphones.”

If you are a fan of the franchise, then you already know that Bow Wow was cast way back in the 2006 film Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift, before the franchise became an international hit.
He played Twinkie, Sean’s first friend he meets in Tokyo and who sells various consumer goods and catastrophically introduces Sean to drift racing.
No details about his storyline in Fast & Furious 9′ have been revealed. Fast & Furious 9 will again be directed by Justin Lin and written by Daniel Casey. It will be the ninth installment in The Fast and the Furious franchise.

Kenya Barris’ Comedy Series ‘Unrelated’ Not Moving Forward On Freeform
Freeform’s Kenya Barris comedy Unrelated is effectively dead at the Disney-owned cable network.
The straight-to-series project (formerly called Besties) is no longer going forward in its current form. Instead, the script will be redeveloped.
Unrelated — picked up to series in May 2018 — revolved around Jesi (Gigi Zumbado) and Becca (Jordin Sparks), who go from strangers to sisters when they find out through a genetic testing company that they share the same birth mother. It was described as a contemporary ensemble comedy about identity and self-discovery. Sparks, Matt Shively, Kris D. Lofton, Zumbado, Jessika Van and Davi Santos starred.
In addition to a title change, the Barris project also brought in a new showrunner — Aeysha Carr (The Carmichael Show) — who replaced original showrunners Casey Johnson and David Windsor (The Real O’Neals). The latter duo co-created the series alongside Barris. Sources said in April that Barris was behind the switch, as he was unhappy with the show’s early creative direction. Barris, who co-created the series alongside Ranada Shepard, stepped down as writer on the ABC Signature-produced project after he left the studio for a lucrative overall deal with Netflix. As he has with ABC’s Black-ish and its Freeform spinoff, Grown-ish, Barris remained deeply involved on Unrelated as an executive producer. Sources say the decision to make the showrunner change was amicable. Johnson and Windsor continue to have an overall deal with ABC Studios.
The decision to redevelop the series arrives three months after Lauren Corrao was tapped to replace Karey Burke as head of originals at Freeform. The Comedy Central alum has been busy reviewing Freeform’s slate and ultimately made the decision to redevelop the property.
Barris, meanwhile, has Black-ish, Grown-ish and ABC’s rookie comedy Mixed-ish in the works for Disney. He also created and will star alongside Rashida Jones in his first Netflix series, the scripted comedy Black Excellence. That series is the first to stem from Barris’ overall deal with the streamer.

Halle Bailey Tapped To Play Ariel In ‘The Little Mermaid’
NEW YORK (AP) — Halle Bailey, half of the sister duo Chloe x Halle, will next be going under the sea, starring as Ariel in the upcoming adaptation of “The Little Mermaid.”
The live-action version will include original songs from the 1989 animated hit as well as new tunes from original composer Alan Menken and “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. Some of the tunes include “Under the Sea,” ″Part of Your World” and “Kiss the Girl.”
Bailey will join Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina in the film, which will be directed by Rob Marshall, who helmed “Mary Poppins Returns.”
Marshall says that Bailey “possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role.”
R. Kelly Wants Ex-Wife To Stop Talking About Him Publicly
CHICAGO (AP) — Lawyers for R&B singer R. Kelly are asking a judge in Chicago to fine and jail his ex-wife for breaking a confidentiality clause in their divorce agreement.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Kelly’s attorney Steve Greenberg said in a Tuesday filing that Andrea Kelly appeared “on countless media outlets disparaging Robert Kelly and making accusations and charges.” The singer faces more than 20 sex-related counts in Cook County criminal courts alleging he abused and assaulted women. He denies all wrongdoing.
Andrea Kelly’s lawyer says the singer has broken the confidentiality agreement himself many times.
The couple’s divorce has garnered attention since the singer was jailed for three days in March for failing to pay about $160,000 in child support. The next hearing in the case is July 10.
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Saudi Arabia said Wednesday that hip-hop star Nicki Minaj will perform in the ultraconservative kingdom as it sheds decades of restrictions on entertainment.
The female rapper is known for her outlandish, provocative style and hits like “Anaconda,” where she raps about her “big fat” backside. Her lyrics are often laced with profanities and her skin-bearing music videos often include twerking. Christian groups criticized her 2012 Grammy Awards performance, which included dancing priests and an exorcism.
Saudi organizers announced she would be the headline act at the Jeddah World Fest on July 18. The concert, which in line with Saudi laws is alcohol and drug-free, is open to people 16 and older and will take place at the King Abdullah Sports Stadium in the Red Sea city.
Reactions on social media ranged from shock and joy to criticism and disappointment. In a profanity-laced video posted on Twitter and viewed more than 37,000 times, a Saudi woman wearing a loose headscarf accuses the Saudi government of hypocrisy for inviting Minaj to perform but requiring women who attend the concert to wear the modest full-length robe known as the abaya. Most Saudi women also veil their hair and faces.
“She’s going to go and shake her ass and all her songs are indecent and about sex and shaking ass and then you tell me to wear the abaya,” the Saudi woman says. “What the hell?”
Saudi organizers said the concert will be broadcast globally and covered by MTV. Other performers include British artist Liam Payne and American DJ Steve Aoki. The kingdom is also promising quick electronic visas for international visitors who want to attend.
Over the past several months, the kingdom has seen performances by Mariah Carey, Enrique Iglesias, the Black Eyed Peas, rapper Sean Paul, and DJs David Guetta and Tiesto. That’s despite the widespread international backlash since October over the killing of Saudi critic and writer Jamal Khashoggi by Saudi agents close to the crown prince in the kingdom’s consulate in Turkey.
Such concerts are a stark change from when Saudi morality police would raid establishments that played loud music.
Gender segregation between single men and women is still enforced in many restaurants, coffee shops, public schools and universities, but other rules have loosened with women now allowed to drive and attend events in sports stadiums.
LAPD Opens Internal Affairs Inquiry In Nipsey Hussle Case
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police have opened an internal affairs investigation into why the woman who drove the getaway car in the aftermath of rapper Nipsey Hussle’s killing was sent home when she tried to turn herself in during the manhunt for the shooter.
The LAPD’s Office of the Inspector General confirmed Monday that the Internal Affairs Group is investigating a desk officer’s response at the 77th Street station. Capt. Gisselle Espinoza, an LAPD spokeswoman, said the matter is under administrative investigation and she couldn’t release more details.
Grand jury testimony shows the woman who drove the suspect, Eric R. Holder, away from the March 31 shooting had gone to the station because her car and license plate were on the news.
“Oh my God,” the woman, whose name has not been released, testified that she told her mother. “My car is on here and everything, and I didn’t do anything. I didn’t know this boy was gonna do this.”
Her mother called police but was told detectives wouldn’t be available until 6 a.m. the next day, grand jury transcripts show.
When they arrived at the station the next morning, the front desk officer said “don’t worry about it” and “don’t listen to the news,” the transcript shows. The woman left the station, returning later to speak to detectives after her mother called police again.
LAPD Detective Cedric Washington testified that the woman had been turned away.
“That is true according to the desk officer that I spoke to about it,” Washington said.
“OK. He apparently missed a briefing in the chief’s press conference that day, I guess,” Deputy District Attorney John McKinney said.
Josh Rubenstein, an LAPD spokesman, said Monday in an email that the internal investigation began a few days ago.
“While the initial indications pointed to a miscommunication, we have initiated an administrative investigation to ensure all policies and procedures were followed,” Rubenstein wrote. “We will review all statements that have already been given, interview all of the individuals involved, and look for any potential body cam video that may have captured the interchange.”
Rubenstein told the Los Angeles Times last week there didn’t appear to be any misconduct.
“She was not making herself clear of what she was doing,” Rubenstein said, noting that the officer believed the woman was reporting that someone was just recording video of her car on television.
A grand jury on May 9 returned an indictment charging Holder, 29, with murder, attempted murder and other felonies. He has pleaded not guilty.
The woman testified that Holder was a friend she had known for about a month and that she believed the two were just stopping at a shopping center for food.
She saw Hussle standing outside his South Los Angeles clothing store, The Marathon, expressed her excitement and took a picture with him after overhearing Holder and Hussle’s conversation about “snitching.”
The woman and Holder had pulled out of the shopping center and into a nearby gas station when Holder loaded a gun, told her he would be back and walked back to the shopping center, the woman testified.
She said she heard two gunshots, and Holder returned moments later telling her to drive. She said she didn’t learn Hussle had been shot until later that night.
Witnesses heard Holder and Hussle, both of whom have ties to the Rollin’ 60s street gang, discussing “snitching” minutes before Hussle was shot, according to the transcripts.
Holder was arrested two days later about 20 miles (32 kilometers) from the crime scene.
Hussle, 33, whose real name is Ermias Ashgedom, was a long-respected rapper who had just broken through with a Grammy-nominated album before he was shot and killed.

Chris Rock Set To Begin Production Of The ‘Saw’ Reboot This Week!
Several weeks ago we heard the extremely interesting news that comedian Chris Rock was going against the grain of his normal comedy stomping grounds as he was about to tackle a horror film and a reboot at that; we hear he was tackling the Saw reboot!
The trades are reporting that Rock has jumped on board set to write the story treatment and three-time Saw director Darren Lynn Bousman set to direct. Bousman even went on Twitter to announce the next film will begin shooting this week.
When Chris Rock came to us and described in chilling detail his fantastic vision that reimagines and spins-off the world of the notorious Jigsaw Killer, we were all-in,” Joe Drake, Chairman of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group, previously said in a statement. “Saw is one of the highest grossing horror franchises of all-time and it’s one of Lionsgate’s most successful film series. This upcoming film will still be as mind-bending and intense as all the previous Saw films. Chris conceived this idea and it will be completely reverential to the legacy of the material while reinvigorating the brand with his wit, creative vision, and passion for this classic horror franchise.”
“I’ve been a fan of Saw since the first film in 2004,”Rock said in a previous statement. “I am excited by the opportunity to take this to a really intense and twisted new place.”
The film will be produced by longtime Saw producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules – who are back once again to shepherd this re-imagining, which will be directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who helmed three of the most successful films in the Saw franchise.
The screenplay is based on a story conceived by Chris Rock and written by Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg (Jigsaw). The film will be executive produced by Rock, long-time Saw executive producer Daniel Heffner and the original creators of Saw, James Wan and Leigh Whannell.
The new Saw film will be released on October 23, 2020.
