Arsenio Hall Announces ‘Bracingly Candid’ Memoir Reflecting On Fame, Comedy, And Cultural Impact

Comedy legend and late-night pioneer Arsenio Hall is ready to tell his story—uncensored and unfiltered. The Emmy-winning entertainer has announced a forthcoming memoir described as “bracingly candid,” offering readers an intimate look at his life, career, and the cultural moments that defined a generation.

Hall’s memoir will trace his journey from growing up in Cleveland to becoming one of the most influential Black voices in television history. Best known for The Arsenio Hall Show, which redefined late-night TV in the early ’90s, Hall gave a platform to hip-hop artists, political figures, and underrepresented voices long before it was mainstream. The book promises behind-the-scenes stories from his groundbreaking interviews with guests like Bill Clinton, Tupac Shakur, Eddie Murphy, and Magic Johnson, as well as reflections on the pressures of fame and the challenges of being a trailblazer in Hollywood.

In addition to revisiting his iconic talk show era, Hall will delve into his stand-up roots, his work in films like Coming to America, and his return to the spotlight in recent years. The memoir will also explore personal struggles, including his decision to step away from the spotlight to raise his son, and his thoughts on the evolving landscape of comedy and representation.

The memoir is set to be published by Flatiron Books on April 7, 2026, with Hall promising a voice that’s “honest, funny, and maybe even a little uncomfortable.” Early buzz suggests the book will be both a nostalgic ride and a timely reflection on fame, race, and resilience.

With his signature wit and wisdom, Arsenio Hall’s memoir is poised to be a must-read for fans of comedy, culture, and candid storytelling. After decades of shaping the conversation, he’s finally telling his own—on his own terms.

Sherri Shepherd Urges SNL To Cast A Black Woman Following Ego Nwodim’s Departure

Comedian and talk show host Sherri Shepherd is calling on Saturday Night Live to prioritize diversity in its casting, following the confirmed exit of cast member Ego Nwodim after six seasons. Nwodim, who joined the iconic sketch show in 2018, was the only Black woman in the current ensemble—a role she carried with sharp wit, bold characters, and cultural resonance.

Shepherd, speaking on her daytime show Sherri, praised Nwodim’s contributions to SNL and emphasized the importance of continuing her legacy. “Ego brought brilliance, beauty, and unapologetic Blackness to that stage,” Shepherd said. “Now it’s time for SNL to step up and make sure another Black woman gets that spotlight.”

Saturday Night Live has long faced criticism for its lack of consistent representation of Black women. Before Nwodim, only a handful—including Maya Rudolph, Danitra Vance, and Sasheer Zamata—have held full-time cast positions in the show’s nearly 50-year history. Shepherd’s comments reignite a broader conversation about inclusion in comedy and the gatekeeping of mainstream platforms.

Shepherd’s call has been echoed by fans and fellow comedians on social media, many of whom are suggesting rising talents like Zainab Johnson, Ayo Edebiri, and Janelle James as potential additions. The push comes as SNL prepares for its 51st season, with casting announcements expected in the coming weeks.

As SNL looks to reshape its cast, Sherri Shepherd’s message is clear: representation isn’t just about filling a seat—it’s about honoring voices, perspectives, and the power of comedy to reflect the world as it truly is.

Several ‘Drag Race’ Stars Join RuPaul In New Adam Shankman Action Comedy

Fan favorites from the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” franchise are coming out for Adam Shankman’s upcoming action-comedy feature film. Ginger Minj, Jujubee, Brooke Lynn Hytes, Latrice Royale, Marcia Marcia Marcia, Monét X Change, and Symone will appear alongside RuPaul in the as-yet-untitled and sure to be diva-licious film. It marks the first-ever theatrical feature from the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” universe.

In addition, producer Universal Pictures Content Group has entered an agreement to acquire all international rights to the picture. As previously announced, Bleecker Street will release the film, which is being billed as a “wild ride of camp and comedy,” theatrically in North America in 2026.

According to the official logline: “The film follows best friends Tess (Ginger Minj) and DeeDee (Jujubee), train stewardesses who trade their dreary shifts on the Stank Rail for the glitzy Glamazonian Express. When a catastrophic ‘Stormaganza’ threatens to derail the high-speed train and crash it into Los Angeles, the duo in coach must join forces with the snobby first-class attendants (Symone, Brooke Lynn Hytes, Marcia Marcia Marcia, Latrice Royale) and President Gagwell (RuPaul) to save the day.”

The film is produced by World of Wonder, Universal Pictures Content Group and Bleecker Street, and written by Connor Wright and Christina Friel. Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato, Tom Campbell, RuPaul Charles and Shankman serve as producers. Unapologetic Projects is an executive producer and financier on the project.

Brooke Lynn Hytes is a Toronto-born drag performer, classically trained ballerina and host of “Canada’s Drag Race.” She became the first Canadian cast member when she appeared on Season 11 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and also serves as creator, executive producer, and host of “1 Queen 5 Queers.”

Latrice Royale captured hearts as Miss Congeniality on Season 4 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” becoming one of the franchise’s biggest stars. She went on to appear in “All Stars,” “RuPaul’s Drag Race: Live!” in Las Vegas, and HBO’s “We’re Here,” as well as Netflix’s “AJ & The Queen.” Onstage, she has headlined international tours, starred in “DeathDrop” on London’s West End, and played Audrey II in “Little Shop of Horrors.” Her acclaimed solo shows, “Here’s to Life” and “Life Goes On,” have sold out worldwide.

Marcia Marcia Marcia is a drag performer and standout contestant from “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 15. Known on Broadway as Marty Lauter, she has appeared in productions including “Kinky Boots,” “Hello, Dolly!” and the Broadway revival of “Cabaret.”

She is recognized for her screen work in the romantic comedy “Bros” starring Billy Eichner; ABC’s “Station 19” and “Star-Crossed: The Film,” the visual companion to Kacey Musgraves’ fifth studio album of the same name.

Ginger Minj is represented by Warner Talent Agency and Producer Entertainment; Jujubee is represented by Warner Talent Agency and Producer Entertainment; Brooke Lynn Hytes is represented by The NevStevens Group; Marcia Marcia Marcia is represented by Warner Talent Agency and Daniel Hoff Agency; Monét X Change is represented by UTA.
