Did ABC Push Mike Epps’ New Show ‘Uncle Buck’ To Next Fall?

Posted Nov 16, 2015

ABC has announced its scheduling plans for the January-May portion of the TV season, including return dates for all dramas that will go on winter hiatus: the Shondaland Thursday lineup, Nashville, Once Upon A Time, Quantico and Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Thursday will become an unscripted night while Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder are resting, with The Catch (ABC)new weight-loss series My Diet Is Better Than Yours hosted by Shaun T and Beyond The Tank filling in until the dramas come back February 11. As expected, HTGAWM, which has a shorter order per star Viola Davis’ contract, will be succeeded in the 10 PM slot by another Shondaland drama, thriller The Catch starring Mireille Enos, which will premiere March 24. Once and S.H.I.E.L.D. again will have their fall and spring runs bridged by Galavant and Agent Carter, respectively. On Sundays, after low-rated freshman Blood & Oil finishes its shortened order, the 9 PM slot will be taken over by new thriller drama The Family starring Joan Allen, which will premiere March 6 after a preview on Thursdays.

The Real O'Neals (ABC)As previously announced, American Crime, which aired on Thursdays last season, will be moving to Wednesdays, bridging the two sub-seasons ofNashville. Also as expected, Fresh Off the Boat will be moving to 8 PM on Tuesdays after The Muppets finishes its limited order to serve as a lead-in for new family comedy The Real O’Neals. Like ABC did with FOTB last spring, The Real O’Neals will get a double run at 8:30 PM and 9:30 PM in the ABC Wednesday comedy block before moving into its regular Tuesday time slot.

Of Kings And Prophets 2Not very encouraging news for new dramaOf Kings And Prophets. Originally slated for Sunday nights in the fall before it was pushed to midseason for tweaking, the biblical saga has been assigned the “black hole” Tuesday 10 PM slot that has claimed a number of ABC drama casualties, most recently Wicked City this fall.

Missing from ABC’s midseason schedule are returning drama Secrets & Lies and new comedy Uncle Buck, whose premiere plans are still TBD. Secrets & Lies had a sold midseason run on Sundays last season.
