Confirmed- Bounce TV Launches 'Uptown Comic' Hosted By Joe Torry!

As we reported EXCLUSIVELY a couple of days ago, the news became official yesterday; Bounce TV has launched their first original comedy, titled Uptown Comic hosted by Joe Torry. As we stated, the show is currently being film in Atlanta. Here is the article from Variety;

Bounce TV will launch “Uptown Comic,” a half-hour program featuring stage and skit performances, as its second original laffer. The African-American-focused network will launch the show on June 18.

Hosted by comic Joe Torry, “Uptown Comic” will be shot with a live studio audience at the Uptown Comedy Corner in Atlanta. Show’s premiere will follow the debut of previously announced sitcom “Family Time.”

Series is produced by Rainforest Films, whose pic “Think Like a Man” has grossed $75 million domestically to date. Co-founders Rob Hardy and Will Packer will exec produce “Uptown.”

“We envision ‘Uptown Comic’ combining the best elements of ‘Def Comedy Jam’ and ‘In Living Color,'” Packer said.

The news comes less than two weeks after the announcement of “Family Time,” created by Bentley Kyle Evans, as the channel’s first-ever original skein.

“‘Uptown Comic’ is a fresh new showcase for the next generation of break-out stars, perfectly pairing with ‘Family Time’ to build Monday nights as an original programming destination for Bounce TV,” said Jonathan Katz, Bounce TV’s chief operating officer.

The shows will air weekly on Mondays with “Family Time” at 8 p.m. followed by “Uptown Comic” at 8:30.pm
