Comedian Mark Viera Lands New Sitcom On FOX With George Lopez As Executive Producer!

Posted Dec 14, 2011

We just discovered via TV Guide and Hispanically Speaking News that comedian Mark Viera, (probably best known for his performance on Martin Lawrence’s 1st Amendment and Russell Simmon Presents Stand Up At The El-Ray) has just landed a a new half-hour sitcom for FOX, based on his life with comedian George Lopez Executive Producing!

According to both articles, the new project is described as the story of “a blue-collar man who buys a building in the Bronx in order to stay close to his roots and teach his son street smarts. His decision surprises his wife and backfires when his extended Latino family moves in.”

We hear that Chris Case (best known for Retired at 35) is writing the script and will executive produce, along with Lopez and Leslie Kolins Small (of The George Lopez Show) at Warner Bros. TV Studios.

Outside of these articles we were able to confirm from our sources that FOX has confirmed the show will move to the development stage, and that Viera is about to film his first stand up special that will probably be with Showtime as they are snatching up a lot of one man specials.

More as this story develops.
