Comedian Derrick Ellis Closes In On Feature Film Deal From His Published Work!

Posted Jun 4, 2014

We just discovered the news that comedian Derrick Ellis, probably best known from BET’s Comic View and with an appearance on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam has moved forward with several of his books to a possible feature film deal!

According to our sources, Ellis, a book author of several books including his latest The Comic Killer and Vodka To Coffee: I Had To Get Sober Or Stay Broke is finalizing a deal with a studio to move one of his books to a feature film!

As of this writing, we are not sure which book will be featured into a film first, but we hear that Ellis has several other books out and a DVD including I Want To Laugh and How I Got Ghetto Rich In The Streets and is planning on optioning one of these books into the deal immediately.

Ellis is one of the few comedians in the industry to write so many books and one of the only comics to move forward with a film from his self published work. Ellis is even into other ventures and is a true entrepreneur as he is also a clothing designer, and CD distributor, while also maintaining his career as a stand up comedian.
