As CNN continues its weekend coverage around the shootings at Brown University in Rhode Island and Sydney’s Bondi Beach, the news network is changing its programming lineup.
Deadline can confirm that A CNN Special Event: Roy Wood Jr.‘s Very Very Very Merry Holiday Special has been postponed from its original Sunday at 8pm time slot amid ongoing news coverage.
“The special is being preempted by breaking news coverage,” a CNN spokesperson told Deadline Sunday.
The one-night holiday event was filmed in front of a live audience in Washington DC, featuring music, comedy and surprises guests. Backed by the US Air Force Band, Wood Jr. leads a laugh-filled holiday lineup for all ages.
Early Sunday, a gunman opened fire on a Hanukkah celebration in Bondi Beach, killing at least 15 people and injuring 40. The suspects are a father and son, with the 50-year old father shot and killed by police at the scene, while the 24-year old son is critical but stable condition.
On Saturday, two Brown students were killed and nine more were injured at the Ivy League school in Providence, where police have detained a person of interest in his 20s.
