Posted Feb 4, 2011

We just discovered that actress Tasha Smith is currently in the early stages of directing her first feature film!

The film, titled Soul Ties based on the book by author Tee Ashira, tells the story of Ruth Weltch as she reminisces about her life and the pain that has been thrust upon her, both from her own poor choices and from the predatory, egotistical men in her life. But by the grace of God, she persists and finds a decent man with whom to make a permanent “soul tie”…

You may remember Smith from the Tyler Perry films Why Did I Get Married, Daddy’s Little Girls, and Why Did I Get Married Too?. Smith also had an appearance in the film Couples Retreat and will be in the upcoming film Jumping The Broom.

The film is being executive produced by AmVic Entertainment and  Eleventh Entertainment. The Producers are Victor Hobson, Amber Washington, Tee Ashira-Hobson, Peter Wise, Stacey Silva, and Darcey Silva and begins shooting in Atlanta in March.

As of this writing there has been no casting announcements but stay tuned as we will have the scoop on who will be cast in the film!
