Los Angeles Radio Jock Tammi Mac Preps To Launch One Woman Dramedy Show

Posted Apr 19, 2014

We just discovered that comedic and dramatic actress Tammi Mac is bringing every emotion to the surface in her aptly titled new one-woman show, titled Bag Lady, which is sure to turn heads in Hollywood.

What caught our attention to this actress is that there haven’t been too many people in Hollywood, especially women, who have launched a successful one woman show and according to all of the industry insiders, the talk is that Mac will be the first in a while.

(Check out the interview we conducted with her about her show and more below!)

Her new show written by and starring Mac, Bag Lady opens this May in Los Angeles.  While she is known for her comedic skills and quick wit on radio (locally in Los Angeles on Stevie Wonder’s KJLH) and TV, Mac departs from the norm with this production.  She will present audiences with an opportunity to contemplate some of their past and present missteps in relationships that have taken a turn for the worse.

What she initially envisioned as a one-woman show with comedic undertones, quickly transformed into a soul bearing depiction of some of her most painful truths as well as those of her closest friends and confidants.

Mac states, “Everyone talks about the scars of broken relationships, but nobody wants to admit their part in it. Let’s just say, Bag Lady holds me accountable for my mistakes.”

Unbeknownst to many in Hollywood circles, Mac is a formally trained actress with a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre and has also trained with the infamous improv school, The Groundlings.  Her exuberant stage presence has led to a growing list of theatrical work in L.A.  She co-starred in the award-winning production of The Piano Lesson, by August Wilson. She has also starred in Don B. Welch’s, Idella’s Soul Shack, The Divorce, The Bachelorette Party; and made notable appearances in the Wilshire Ebell productions of Brandi Burk’s Men Cry Too and Reap What You Sow.

On the small screen, Tammi Mac has been featured in over a dozen TV commercials; starring opposite the likes of legendary actress Betty White and comedian Kevin Hart.  Also a VH1 commentator, Mac can be seen on the cable network’s The 40 Greatest R&B Songs of the Nineties and The 100 Sexiest Artists. She has served as guest host on Byron Allen’s nationally syndicated talk show, The Gossip Queens. Mac is producer/writer of the all-female sketch comedy troupe, High Estrogen, slated as a web series.

She is also executive producer of the hugely successful Mac’s Minute Microphone Mixer, an industry showcase that spotlights up and coming actors in Los Angeles.

Her show Bag Lady will be playing at Stage 52 Theatre in Los Angeles, May 2-11 and is a must see.
