While In London For Hartbeat Weekend, Kevin Hart Confirms Role In 'The Intouchables'!

Posted Oct 15, 2014

Kevin HartKevin Hart is known for his laugh-a-minute appearances in films like Ride Along and Think Like A Man but the comedian has confirmed he will be taking on his most diverse role to date, starring in a remake of The Intouchables alongside British actor Colin Firth.

The 35-year-old, who has topped the US box office twice this year, was previously rumored to be taking on the role of Driss in a remake of the original 2011 movie, which tells the story of a French aristocrat who hires a young African man as his carer, but it’s no longer speculation as Kevin has officially confirmed he has signed up to star in the drama.

When asked if he’s looking forward to the opportunity of working with Colin on the movie and about his venture away from comedy, Kevin told EntertainmentWise and several other publications at a press conference in London last night: “Yes, I am. He’s an amazing actor. I think that’s a movie that did amazing numbers and them trying to do a remake and using me is exciting. It’s also a different role for me, I like to switch it up. It’s funny because I have the chops for drama, I just believe that everything happens when it’s supposed to, you don’t rush it. This is a prime example of what happens when you’re patient, the right thing will come along and this is definitely the right thing.”

Rather impressively, Kevin managed to beat the likes of Chris Rock, Idris Elba and Jamie Foxx to the role but he insists it’s not an ego boost, adding: “No, you don’t know who else was up for it, you just know who they offered it to, so all those guys are amazing talents, it’s not beating anyone, it’s them deciding who they want to use and who’s right for the part. I guess in this particular case, I’m right for the role. I’m happy, thankful for the opportunity, I can’t wait to do it.”

Kevin was in London for his Hartbeat Weekend which saw him party in the capital for two nights with the likes of Amber Rose before rounding off with a sold-out comedy show last night at Wembley Arena which the funny man hosted and introduced a few of his favourite comedians to the stage including the UK’s very own Kojo and Donnell Rawlings from the US.

Congratulations Kev, we can’t wait to see The Intouchables!
