Soul Train Creator Don Cornelius Commits Suicide!

This morning, we were blown away with the passing of Soul Train founder Don Cornelius. Here is the article according to Deadline;

The creator and former host of Soul Train apparently committed suicide this morning at his home in Sherman Oaks, according to multiple news reports. He was 75. Soul Train was one of the most important trend setters in pop music and dance during its run from 1971 to 2006. It billed itself as the “longest-running, first-run, nationally syndicated program in television history.” The deep-voiced Cornelius hosted the show until 1993, and typically ended with the tagline “we wish you love, peace and soul.” MadVision Entertainment bought the franchise in 2008.

    R.I.P. Don your contribution to music history and introducing black entertainers of all kinds from singing, to dancing and even the legendary comedians helped shape our culture by giving guys who would have never seen the light of day a place to come.
    From Th Jacksons (all of them including Rebie) and James Brown to New Edition to introducing Hip Hop and Break Dancing, to Aretha and Whitney Houston and TLC and Aaliyah to Curtis Mayfield and R. Kelly and Al Green to Rick James and all the dancers who ever danced on the show and introduced whites to “the way we do it”. Thank you for giving the greatest entertainers of the last 40 years a podium. I can’t imagine entertainment being the same without Soul Train.There would be no “So you think you can Dance” or “America’s best dance crew” I know that for sure! because no one across the country would know what breaking and popping was. Anyways R.I.P. Don
