We just discovered that former NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal has joined film school, and is making headway to direct feature films! According to Deadline, he has been in school for the past couple of weeks, and is making some progress.

Recently retired NBA star Shaquille O’Neal is about to graduate from the New York Film Academy’s Filmmaking Conservatory. Shaq has received private instruction in directing and cinematography and spent several days filming on the Universal Studios back lot along with classmates, according to a report on the academy’s blog. “Why act when you can direct, right?” Shaq exclaimed in his video diary from the lot of his student film. In another video post, Shaq rolls off the hood of a moving New York Film Academy production vehicle joking, “Hey Rock, I’m still at film school. Do you do your own stunts?”
