We have a special treat for all of our readers/viewers today as comedian, director, writer, and producer Robert Townsend guest hosts for a Humor Mill TV episode as he interviews Hollywood legend Ed Weinberger!
As you know, Townsend has been in the Hollywood industry for years and his knowledge about Hollywood is really unparalleled to most, so to have him sit down with us is quite remarkable. But to have him interview Ed Weinberger is also astounding, and to hear them both converse about comedy was something to listen to.
If you are not familiar with Weinberger, he wrote for several comedy legends such as Dick Gregory, Richard Pryor, and Bill Cosby. On television, he wrote for The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, The Bob Hope Show, and the Bill Cosby Show just to name a few.
Some of his biggest accomplishments; he also wrote and co-created The Cosby Show and Taxi. Weinberger went on to create and executive produce several other sitcoms, including Amen. Dear John, Baby Talk and Sparks.
That brings us to this interview; Weinberger has launched a new sitcom on TV One titled Belle’s that stars Miguel Nunez, Keith David, Elise Neal, Tami Roman, Ella Joyce, and Nadja Alaya.
The Show’s description reads like this;
BELLE’S is an upscale Atlanta soul-food restaurant owned and operated by the widowed, patriarch Big Bill Cooper. Belle, Bill’s wife, passed two years ago, leaving him with his hands full: A restaurant to run and two daughters to raise, Jil Cooper, a single mother newly divorced and Loreta Cooper, the sassy one who is trying to find herself and a man.
Add to that a precocious 12-year-old grand-daughter Pam, a feisty sister in-law Gladys Crawford and a womanizing cousin bartender named Maurice and you have BELLE’S family soul food restaurant. The show premiere’s at 10PM EST/7PM PST and will premiere every Friday.
