Read The ‘Rush Hour’ Review!

Posted Apr 1, 2016

Though it’s having a slow start out the gate, many are hopeful that the new CBS series, Rush Hour, will gain momentum and prove to be worthy of it’s 1998 blockbuster predecessor, which boasts two sequels.

Starring stand-up comic Justin Hires as Detective Carter and stuntman/actor John Foo as Detective Lee, there is an initial lack of the chemistry that was so naturally  evident between Tucker and Chan.

In the pilot,  Lee comes to California in search of a group of thieves turned murders, who have stolen priceless Chinese statues and in the process killed several officers, including Lee’s sister. As a punishment for never playing by the rules, Detective Carter is teamed up with Lee, and the awkward “rush” begins.

Riddled with scenes that are forced and predictable, it should be noted that Foo’s abilities in martial arts are impeccably executed and a pure pleasure to watch.

While it is not expected for the script to mirror that of the movie, only time will tell if efforts  have to be made  to give us that magic that successful buddy cop shows possess.  Fingers crossed!
