New Clip From FX Comedy Series 'Partners' Starring Martin Lawrence & Kelsey Grammer Debuts!

Posted Jul 31, 2014

Next week Monday, August 4th, at 9pm, after over a decade since the hit comedy TV series he starred in that bears his name went off the air, Martin Lawrence makes his much anticipated return to serial primetime television, in the new FX comedy series “Partners,” in which he co-stars alongside Kelsey Grammer.

In “Partners,” Grammer and Lawrence play two Chicago lawyers from vastly different backgrounds who unexpectedly meet in court as they each face a personal crisis. Marcus Jackson (Lawrence) is a kind-hearted community activist going through a heartbreaking divorce when he meets Allen Braddock (Grammer), an elitist lawyer who has just been fired from his father’s firm. Brought together by fate and desperation, they develop a partnership and friendship, forcing each other to find the balance between the ethical and the unscrupulous in both their professional and personal lives.

Other series regulars include Telma Hopkins, Rory O’Malley, McKaley Miller, Edi Patterson and Danièle Watts.

Bob Boyett and Robert Horn (whose previous credits include hit favorites you’d recognize like “Family Matters,” “Girlfriends,” “Perfect Strangers,” “Living Single” and “Designing Women”) serve as Executive Producers and Showrunners.

Martin Lawrence, Kelsey Grammer, Brian Sher, Stella Bulochnikov, Michael Green and Sam Maydew are also Executive Producers.

The series is produced by Lionsgate Television in association with Grammnet NH Productions and You Go Boy Productions. It is distributed by Debmar-Mercury.

During its 5 season run in the 1990s, “Martin” was one of the FOX network’s highest-rated shows. It was part of a Thursday night lineup of programming on the network that drew African American and Latino audiences – a lineup that also included “Living Single” and “New York Undercover.” Including “Martin,” the 3 primetime series were the highest-rated among black households part of their 1990s run. And I’m sure it’s with enthusiasm that fans will welcome this return to primetime for Lawrence.
