'Minority Report With Larry Wilmore' Details Revealed By Comedy Central!

Posted Jun 2, 2014

Comedy Central has filled the coveted late night slot following The Daily Show in the wake of Stephen Colbert’s departure. The Daily Show’s Larry Wilmore is taking over the news desk in The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore, and we were recently given some insight into how the show will be structured.

According to Comedy Central, The Minority Report will be “a comedic look at news, current events and pop culture from unique perspectives not typically on display in late night television.”

“The general concept [of the show] is Larry will be the anchor of the show and the first act will likely be Larry’s take on the news of the day or cultural hot topics of the moment,” Comedy Central president Michael Ganeless said. “Then [there will be] a panel. The panel will be the second act, we’ll likely have a guest interacting with the panel in the third act.”

Much like The Daily Show and, more recently, @midnight, the network is hoping to use The Minority Report as a way of discovering new talent for other programming.

The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore will premiere in January.
