Michael K. Williams Lands New Role In ‘Ghostbusters’!

Posted Jul 6, 2015

With “Boardwalk Empire” having ended its run last fall, Michael K. Williams is finding ways to stay busy on the bigscreen.

Williams, who played Chalky White on “Boardwalk,” is in negotiations for supporting roles in two upcoming tentpoles: Sony’s “Ghostbusters” and New Regency’s “Assassin’s Creed.

He will first shoot “Ghostbusters,” which is currently in production. The femme-powered pic is being directed by Paul Feig and stars Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy. Williams’ character, however, is being kept under wraps.

Williams will then film “Assassin’s Creed,” which stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, in the fall. Details on this role are also vague, but sources tease that his character has a major stake in the franchise. His role will be equivalent to a co-starring one, alongside Fassbender, in the sequel.

Justin Kurzel is directing the pic based on the popular video game.

Although Williams is looking to dive deeper into the film realm, he is still staying busy on the TV end, landing one of the starring roles in the SundanceTV series “Hap and Leonard.” He can be seen next in the IFC miniseries “The Spoils Before Dying,” opposite Wiig.

He is repped by WME and Silver Lining Entertainment.
