‘Kevin Hart: What Now?’ Concert Film Gets A Theatrical Release Date!

Comedy News

Universal Pictures has set a Friday, Oct. 14, 2016 release for “Kevin Hart: What Now?,” a comedy concert filmed outdoors in front of 50,000 people at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field.

Hart had a hit in 2013 with “Let Me Explain,” another concert film. It grossed $32 million domestically for Lionsgate to become the third-highest live stand-up comedy movie ever, on a $7 million budget.

Hart last teamed with Universal on “Ride Along,” which opened to $41 million and went on to take in $135 million domestically in January last year. The sequel arrives in January of next year, and he’ll also voice a character in Illumination Entertainment’s “The Secret Life of Pets,” which Universal has set for July of next year.

The opening date for “What Now?” sets it up as a counter play to “Inferno,” the Ron Howard-directed thriller starring Tom Hanks from Sony. “A Monster Calls,” a Focus Features fantasy drama, also will debut that weekend.
