Is The Comedy Film 'The Brothers' About To Drop A Sequel?

Posted Dec 5, 2013

The 2001 romantic comedy The Brothers is making a return to the big screen.

Bill Bellamy’s Instagram featured a photo of himself alongside Shemar Moore, Morris Chestnut and D.L. Hughley, the stars of the instant classic film, alluding to a sequel in the near future. Off a highly successful theater run- grossing $30 million on a $6 million dollar production, with sequels making a huge comeback, The Brothers look to join the ranks of popular postscripts. In the original, billed the male version of Waiting To Exhale, four close-knit friends unearthed the varying obstacles of love, friendship, sex, commitment – or the lack thereof, and brutal honesty.

Since 2001, the four brothers of the movie have maintained individual success in radio, movies and comedy.

One fourth of the kings of comedy lineup, D.L. Hughley, who portrayed Derrick West, debuted his afternoon radio show earlier this year.

Terry White, played by Shemar Moore, continues his long standing role as Derek Morgan on CBS’s Criminal Minds.

With a box office smash with The Best Man Holiday, Morris Chestnut continues his sequel reign, as Jackson Smith in The Brothers.

Bill Bellamy released his comedy stand up Crazy, Sexy, Dirty in 2012, in addition to Mr. Box Office, his network televised sitcom starring alongside Vivica A. Fox, Essence Atkins and Rick Fox.
