Hannibal Buress Inks Huge Development Deal With Comedy Central!

Posted May 23, 2013

1533922-hannibal-buress-090911It seems that comedian Hannibal Buress is gaining some serious heat from industry folks, and the new press release from Comedy Central states…

If you recall, in December, Buress inked a deal with ABC  to develop a comedy series that he would star in and write as  the series would be a buddy cop comedy set in a small town inspired by several of his stand up jokes.

According to our sources, the development of that show has slowed down a bit, and maybe that’s why Comedy Central stepped in rather quickly on their new deal.

As of the new deal, Buress inked a multi-platform development deal with Comedy Central, which includes a pilot commitment that Buress will executive and star in, as well as a recurring role on upcoming scripted comedy series titled Broad City, and a one-hour stand-up special and a nationwide tour.

It’s a bunch of things that I like to do, and they were able to put it together in an all-encompassing deal,” says Buress, who calls Louis C.K. a role career model.

Buress (one of Variety magazine’s “Ten Comics to Watch in 2010”) has been featured in The Awkward Comedy Show special on Comedy Central, and on the FX sitcom Louie. Currently, he can be seen on The Eric André Show on Adult Swim, and as a regular “expert” on FX’s Totally Biased With W. Kamau Bell.

He’s also written for hit TV shows like 30 Rock, and has appeared on the series.

Burress hosts a free weekly stand-up comedy show at The Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, NYC on Sunday evenings.
