Craig Robinson & Lionsgate Films Make A Leap Into New Territory With New Film!

Posted Mar 31, 2011

We just discovered that Loinsgate Films is really taking things to the next level; first they have staked their claim in black films with all of Tyler Perry produced films and now they are about to do the same thing with what is called micro-budgeted films, which means films that are budgeted at 2 millions dollars or less.

This is huge because they plan to produce films that are scary movies and comedies, and the first film that have set to produce in this price range is a new film as a starring vehicle for Craig Robinson titled Rapturepalooza and is a comedic look at life after the fallout of a religious apocalypse. Robinson’s character is supposedly the Anti-Christ!

Now here’s why this can be huge; the original film Paranormal Activity was produced for $10,000 and went on to gross over $80 million! The same can be said for The Blair Witch Project and Saw. All of those original films were made for pennies and went on spin a huge pay day for the studios that eventually distributed them.

Lionsgate is going to roll the dice with these two genres, and we can say that from this seat it looks like it is a pretty good gamble.
