Anthony Mackie, who soared as Sam “The Falcon” Wilson in one of this year’s biggest films, has closed a deal to join Our Brand is Crisis, the political dramedy starring Sandra Bullock.
Peter Straughan wrote the script, and George Clooney and Grant Heslov are producing through their Smokehouse Pictures banner. Bullock will executive produce, and Courtenay Valenti and Racheline Benveniste are overseeing for the studio. Production is slated for the fall.
Mackie most recently starred as the Falcon in Disney and Marvel’s hit Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The busy Hurt Locker actor has wrapped shooting on John Hillcoat’s heist film Triple Nine and will appear again with Chris Evans in romantic comedy Playing It Cool. He’s currently filming the untitled Christmas Eve Project with Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He’s repped by UTA and Inspire Entertainment.
